What have you done to your E89 today

Working on a friend's new to him 2009 35i MSport

Removed MHD V9 stage 1 remap and flashed back to stock

Removed the very nasty K+N air filter and put a nice Mahle OE in.

Coded and registered a new Exide 70ah AGM battery (less than £100 from Tanya)

Managed then (due to coding and flash back to stock) to remove almost all the faults seen by the code reader!IMG_1745.JPGIMG_1744.JPGIMG_1733.JPGIMG_1730.JPGIMG_1725.JPGIMG_1724.JPGIMG_1723.JPG

Replaced the aerial with a stubby,

Touchy subject 😂

Replaced the aerial with a stubby, swapped the gear knob for an M Performance one, and got new tyres fitted at the front. Up a profile and ditched the runflats- a lot more comfortable now!

Sitting perfectly now- no other plans!

Done the same, nice performance increase with the stubby

So getting familiar with my new E89. one headlight has been replaced but the other not. Plugged the hole of doom. Also cleaned under the click plates and replaced two of the clicks. Noticed some form of liquid but doesn’t look like water. Any idea??

I took mine to France over the weekend! Covered about 250 miles and she behaved flawlessly! Used about half a tank of fuel and was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Held my nerve operating the roof so far from home but she didn’t let me down!

I’d guess at a bit of leaked oil or hydraulic oil from a bottle being taken in and out of little storage cubby there Nosey.

Today, I installed a gloss black "carbon" rear lip spoiler I ordered on Aliexpress about 2 months ago, thanks @Bombur. Looks great, though it's gloss black and my black e89 is more like brown at the moment. so the shiny spolier looks a bit out of place.

To add. Just had a service, I replaced the plugs and air filter. Local BMW specialist changed oil, installed Mann filter I supplied, changed diff oil and checked coolant (it wss ok). ZF6 gearbox and rear discs next month.

Bilstein suspension update after that. I keep looking at 18" 313 wheels but maybe I'm weird but I really like the 17" 290's!
A colour matched decent rear spoiler works well imho..a non matched one ..not so..imho

'm keeping the 17s for the momnet. I think they look great!
I don't blame you, I really like them too. I ran a set on my E90 for a few years - really easy to clean too! I'm sure I've read that you get less understeer than with staggered wheels.

For a black Z4 I think the gloss black ones work perfectly. Mine is great and glad I didn't spend time and money painting it BSM.

Looking at that picture of your tail light hole of doom, your gasket isn't fully seated. It should be pulled through and and overlap the edge of the metal. you may continue to have leakage there if not resolved.

Smelt something fishy and I was thinking of a possible coolant leak, nope…these long gone little fellas were hitching a ride. The problems when you pick up a low mileage car sometimes. Off to BMW Tuesday for a thorough checkup under warranty.

I did wonder that myself when looking at my gaskets against others online. Both sides are exactly the same with the offside possibly being original as it doesn’t have the hole. With only having the car for the last month, I’ve not witnessed any water ingress yet but will be keeping a close eye on things…..feeling a little paranoid every time it rains.
