Hi all, my lad is urgently looking for a dual mass fly wheel for a E85 2.2 manual 2004 car. He gone to replace the clutch and the fly wheel has a crack in it. Tried a number of places for a new one and they don’t appear to make them anymore.

I have a 2.2i in Norfolk that I'm breaking.
It is sitting on a gravel drive so not the easiest proposition.
If you can find nothing else and have the ability to remove this one (or take the shell away to sort elsewhere) then come and get it.
No charge.

Good luck finding one I've exhausted all options, luk do not make them anymore and I can't find any stock in the UK,

Bmw still offer a genuine part but they charge £1200 for it

For some reason still unknown to me the z4 2.2i with the m54b22 engine and five speed gearbox has a completely unique flywheel even tho this engine and gearbox combination was on many cars of the same era that all have readily available flywheels,

Is it the same engine and gearbox as in the 2.2 Z3?
The z3 and e46 with the m54b22 engine have a different flywheel, i can only think that on the z4 they changed something on either the gearbox or flywheel itself

Do you scrap the engine with what's left of the car then?

Yes I don’t have the facility to remove it on a sloping gravel drive. So I take off everything I can that is useful then local scrap man uses his flatbed and hiab to take the rest away.

Makes sense not an easy undertaking getting the flywheel off but might be worth it soon on a 2.2

To be realistic, if my car needed a clutch replacement, I think it would probably cost more than the car is worth and would sadly end up at the scrap yard, especially if it needed a flywheel as well.

I got quoted £400 to replace my clutch,
Flywheel would have only been the extra cost of the part and not much more labour, when you could get a luk flywheel for £400 that wouldnt have been too bad but with the oem price of a flywheel the quote for both was £1700.

Money better spent on a 3.0 litre that has better parts availability

Nothing heard back, so this is being collected Wednesday afternoon. The scrap man cometh!

I thought the cost would be more than £400.00 for a clutch replacement. Seems reasonable. But yes, £1700.00 is very high.:(

Rear wheel drive car easier to change clutch and that's a clutch specialist, plus they probably not aware how rusted the exhaust studs are 🤣
