Temperature Maxed out and no OBD

Hi.
I was wondering if anyone can help with ideas as I am stumped..... I pulled up outside my house with no issues, jumped back in two hours later and my temperature is maxed out, oil level shows error on the dash, I cannot connect to my OBD2 and it will crank but not start.... I have checked all fuses and they seem to be fine. Not sure where to go next. Any suggestions welcome...

I’d say your dme has left the chat

Either that or you have a canbus issue

But every time I’ve seen dme comms issues the dash shows random lights and the temp gauge goes to max

That's not good news if it has.
Unlike the M54 and N52 DME, with the 2.0 N46 you cannot simply fit another and patch it in to the car. There is no software available to unlink the new DME from the EWS (immobiliser). So you would need to replace the DME and the EWS. Then of course the keys won't talk to the new EWS.
So, you would need to replace DME, EWS module, ignition barrel, drivers door lock, boot lock and keys. Then code the keys to your existing GM5 (that's easy).
Fingers crossed it's not that, but if it is, let me know as I have a complete set of matching parts which I would pass on for a lot less than the eBay rate!
