What have you done to your car today?

As it was National Drive-It Day I went for a local drive with no planned destination. Managed to get the revs up in third a couple of times and it still feels exciting. :D

I've found the roads are fairly quiet after 5pm on a Sunday!

Today I upgraded speakers, FOCAL 165 AS3 serie and I have to say that its like night and day. If anyone is considering this, don't think about it anymore. Do it. But don't forget the mounting beers...
Nice to hear, mine came with upgraded JBL’s in the front . I have the exact same Focals for the rear as one of the standard ones is during along with the genuine lower grills and fittings from a premium audio car along with a matching focal amp and 4 ton of sound deadening.

I have pioneer underseat subs now too.

My issue is I can’t stop messing!

Fitted my upgraded paddle steering wheel, 3.0 SI front brakes and sound symposer.

Couple of wires to run for the under seat subs and it’s back together ready to find some sun.

.

Reduced the price a little

If sold and collected this weekend it is forecast brilliant sunshine for the next 12 weeks

Took my headliner down for repair, then stripped my ceiling insulation, to apply butyle mats. Lot sof Goof Off spray and elbow grease, with a plastic scraper.28754.jpg

Put the Z4C on the CTEK. It is not getting enough use at the moment as the E46 has the winter tyres.

E46 - ran a full Carly diagnostics and cleared fault codes. Also checked out the battery as it seems to lose charge real quick. Once i pulled the boot floor, side panels and various fixing brackets out I found two issues. First is that the battery is sitting in about 2cm of cold water :o . Second is that it is a BMW battery. As the car only went to BMW for it's first three years I assume it is still the one it was built with 17 years ago. I think that may explain why it is starting to get a bit weak :?
Seeing the water would have ruined my day!

Had a water leak on my E85 M54 recently. Luckily it was just the fan switch/sensor that goes into a hose. Easy job done today. Took it out for a run with the roof down this afternoon and all is good.

At 96000 miles, I thought that I ought to give my E85 a major service. Got my local Indy to change plugs and cabin filters, oil and filter, gearbox and rear diff oil, brake fluid and protect the underbody. £700, which I thought was reasonable. Hopefully I've done some future-proofing. I just love driving this car.

Another upgrade, gone from 17"s to 18"s (because they were cheap and I've been hoarding them since last year). Put them on and cleaned the car, new tyres are going on them tomorrow as the ones on there have loads of tread left, but they're pretty cracked and dry-rotted. 2026-04-29 16.27.25.jpg

Sadly have noticed that my previously mint (cloth) seats have started to wear. Definitely going to have to change them out some sports seats now (when I find some) (when I can afford some).2026-04-29 15.51.30.jpg

Replaced both rear brake pipes, thank you Mr MoT man  and ended up fitting braided hoses all round as well - gets rid of the rear hose to crimped steel parts. x2 ARB bushes and the final nail in the coffin a small cut in the tyre, of course its to chords  MPS4's 😢.
blasted and painted the calipers and carriers whilst all 4 wheels where off. Bring on the sunshine :thumbsup:

Do you have a link to the rear hoses you used, pleased? I was going to get a custom one made up to replace the metal middle part, but maybe there's some off the shelf ones?

I did my homework for my Z4 🥹
A 22 page document completed.

Including the accident from 2015, which was not on insurance docs, along with repairs completed, structural integrity checks from three independent sources including BMW UK - confirming all repairs carried out are unidentifiable - carbon appears as it was from factory.

A few screenshots here as an idea....

Boring? Maybe. But I like data 😂

Got rid of one today.
Then changed the rear suspension on the Dark Knight project, basic Monroe's and eibach.
Relocated the roof motor to the boot. This one was much easier the the 1st one I did.
Began swapping out the light grey interior with the panels behind the seats and the central rear console.
Also fitted a wind deflector kit.
Tomorrow should see the front suspension, anti roll bar bushes, rocker cover gasket, timing chain tensioner and both belts changed.
Will also remove both seats to the wife can deal with the carpets.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153138920241 rears are 2 piece to allow mounting to the original bracket on trailing arm. a bit fiddley to connect due to spanner sizes,, also found you need to really nip down the brake pipe fitting.
