Thanks for the correction, Andy. Won't let me change it, but the info is helpful.Wrong way around, OE is genuine BMW from a dealer, OEM is the original manufacturer usually without the BMW stamp and not brought from the dealer
You have my thanks.I was able to Edit it for you (and I voted OEM).
I've learned a lot researching today. If it's buried deep; get the best part with a warranty. I read some reviews on each part, some upgrades are better. Aluminum Mickey Mouse flange, or an aluminum expansion tank, for example. Documentation is key; let the next owner decide. My ocd and attention to detail will show through.Well... mostly id say it depends on the part in question... though normally either original equipment with the bmw stamp, or aftermarket.
I can't argue with that, lol.The words 'genuine BMW' makes me laugh. BMW (or any car manufacturer) doesn't make any parts to fit their cars. They are all outsourced.
And all manufacturers use lots of different suppliers for the same things. And all these suppliers will have them made in China by un-named companies anyway.
I changed the brakes on a Mazda a few years ago. The calipers were stamped with 'TRW' and the Mazda logo. Underneath was stamped 'made in China'.
It's like buying a 'genuine' pair of Nike trainers. Glued together by a 7 year old in Vietnam or Bangladesh. Or a fake pair glued together by the same 7 year old, for a third of the price.
This is why acronyms aren't helping lolWrong way around, OE is genuine BMW from a dealer, OEM is the original manufacturer usually without the BMW stamp and not brought from the dealer
You are correct Robbi, admin was able to correct the poll selections, but my question remains wrong. Sorry about the confusion.
Thanks for the advice Rs. What are your thoughts on https://www.ecstuning.com/? They have some convenient kits. The only thing I worry about; the parts brand is, Assembled by ECS. Assume I would need to trust their part selection?Whatever you get, I'd recommend FCP Euro or RockAuto since ur also in the US. RockAuto is generally whatever cheaper parts and FCP Euro is OEM, OE, and a few higher end parts.
OEM vs random really depends on the part though. A brake pad wear sensor? Whatever's cheapest. A wheel speed sensor? Definitely OEM or better.
You could always edit it yourself. I try not to edit peoples' posts as I'd feel like I was interfering! You are correct Robbi, admin was able to correct the poll selections, but my question remains wrong. Sorry about the confusion.
Sorry Tidy, I tried to edit; it only allows me to add more poll questions. Under edit, I tried to tap on the question. You have to bare with me; I sit just above specail needs, in forum skills. Still, I will give it another valiant attempt. You could always edit it yourself. I try not to edit peoples' posts as I'd feel like I was interfering!
