Front disc and pads, BMW originals or alternatives?

I have a warped front brake disk, I have priced up new discs and pads at my local BMW dealer and it near £600 for the parts.

Are there any good alternatives with similar or better performance than the OEM items?

I have had a look around the forums and there is plenty of discussion of calliper and disc upgrades but not much talk of just disc and pad upgrade.

What have others fitted and what do they think about the performance please?

Cheers

Richard

Ive used M-Tec in the past - some say they have had issues but to be fair never had a problem

Cheaper to buy the OEM parts from a reseller than BMW. All depends on the model / sizes - but expect to save a decent amount from whatever BMW quote for the same thing from the same manufacturer.

BMW do not manufacture the brake part consumables, they buy them & mark them up.

That’s my plan, I guess I’m after recommendations on which OEM parts to use as I have had warped disc issues from some suppliers in the past. Ideally something with a bit better performance when pushed.

Understood. Discs wise I tend to go with OEM - but for pads I like the redstuff / ATE ceramic compound pads. Better bite, lower dust (cost a bit more).

Get the part numbers from real Oem if you haven’t already, then search Autodoc for the options mentioned above.

My BMW Indy says he always fits Brembo, unless customers ask for a different brand.

I bought the Brembos from Euro Car Parts, just tried fitting them and the discs are to small at 300mm, mine measure 330mm.

Anyone know is mine modified or are different sizes fitted by BMW?

Thanks

Well yes - but you've got what you've got.

These discs & pads fitments are not obvious - you need to triple check what you need & make sure you get the right ones.

If you think these are expensive, don't upset yourself looking at performance brakes for the next tier up of cars, or exotics. You can be looking at £15k for a set of disks & pads.
