You ain't gonna make many friends here at this rate. As has been said THIS IS NOT FACEBOOK. Everybody is a grown up (well most) and know how to behave in a manner they see fit.

Of course I agreed a price, the seller and I both needed to set this, no matter the condition, and as I said, I have no problem with the price, just the principal of others interfering in the sale.

As for advising others?

Adults mind their own bussiness.

I didn't join to make friends, it was obvious from the start that, like many forums, there is a clique within the forum, I will never fit in, too marmite, although I have no problem with that.
 
You haven’t yet had the courtesy to acknowledge my detailed reply, the price you agreed, the tread depth or tyre age. That’s up to you.
Also in my “too cheap” post I also gave info first re the spec and fitment.
7 mins later you agreed to buy.

Sorry to hear of your disappointment 4play, but bigwinn has beaten me to it. :thumbsup:

As I see it the whole point of requiring a price to be stated is to avoid bidding wars and to be fair the first person to commit to buying puts them first in the queue which, IME has always worked well on here.
 
I can see the rationale of the moan had you not bought the wheels as the seller increased the price due to being advised they were worth more, thereby you missed out.

But.......

You agreed the price and bought the wheels after inspecting them. Your choice. Bitching after the fact is quite simply ludicrous.

As for my personal circumstances, you know nothing about me, I spend a fair chunk of my salary entertaining my elderly mother who has Alzheimers, taking her out for drives to stop her going stir crazy sitting in the house day after day, I took her with me yesterday, I ask for no sympathy, it's my duty, but I run my car on a budget, I can afford to keep the car serviced etc but my pockets aren't bottomless, this of course wasn't a consideration for some, they new best.

So in future, if someone wishes to advise the seller on the price of his/her parts I suggest you go take a look, and consider others before sticking your nose it.

Mate you've been on the forum 2 minutes - I'd respectfully suggest you don't advise other members how they should conduct themselves.

Nobody wants to see someone get taken to the cleaners because they aren't savvy with the going rate for what they are selling. Similarly expressions of a good price or a good deal are often made by knowledgeable members to help smooth the sales process and provide potential purchases with the confidence they require to agree a deal.

I'd suggest the latter point is the reason you moved so fast to agree a deal maybe not at the price advertised but as you say at a price you were comfortable with.

Anyway the detail of the specific transaction is by the by and if it was me I'd seriously consider apologising for such a presumptuous post.

I agreed based on the info you gave, they fitted and were a good price, I didn't think they would be on sale for long and it was fairly early in the morning so I got first dibs.
As I have constantly repeated, the sale price, tyre date and condition is not relavent, this is solely based on interference.

Time and time again I've said I have no problem with either the wheels or the price, just interference.
 
I’ll try not to “interfere” on any help you need in the future then.

1. The "interference" did not stop your purchase so you obviously agreed with the higher valuation.

2. Your point about the "interference" is only valid had you chosen NOT to purchase as the price increased.

3. I thought you had given in?
 
Personally Im not sure there was interference as from what I can see, a member stated they were cheap and this was before you said you were interested and not after. I don't have a problem if forum members gave their opinion if they feel a price is too low or high, it's up to the seller to decide.
 
I’ve checked out the original thread on the wheels. I see absolutely nothing to infer that anyone was baiting the seller to increase the price. It was stated they were cheap and that’s right, they were.

Out of interest, what’s the date code on the tyres? Anything older than 10 years (2016) on the front axle will be illegal to run on the road. I turned down an immaculate set of 326Ms with matching tyres because they were older than 2016. Mind you, I didn’t tell the world about it at the time…

Are you a member of any clubs/forums? If so how do you feel when a new member pops up with opinions on stuff or who has ways of interacting that are against the status quo?

That’s what you are doing at the moment and the established members won’t put up with that. Don’t get sulky and say there are cliques, it takes effort to integrate into communities.

We have characters and people on the forum who aren’t backward at coming forward, but they have earned their standing and give as good as they get. If you didn’t join to make friends expect that approach to get you called out a fair bit when people disagree with your point of view.
 
I think commercially it's more like 4 years for new tyres. Never heard anything about second hand tyres beyond that they will have to pass an MOT. A friend has got some 13 year old Bridgestones that have been sitting in the dark for about decade. They're not perished or cracked and I'd trust them over some new Linglongs any day!

My 2p on "Those wheels are too cheap" being "interference" is, errr, that it's bollox. It's a throwaway comment that some chancer has jumped on. It's not like RMB revealed that they're really Fabergé wheels alerting an unknowing seller to a massive pricing blunder.

Buying second hand is a lucky bag, sometimes you win, sometimes you get done.

Don't listen to him! Been on here ages. Set up his own clique of one and none of us like him. :poke: ;)
 
To be fair the OP hasn't had a great experience since he joined up as he's been getting messed about on another classified, so I can understand his POV.

I think enough opinions have been expressed now, so maybe it's time to close this thread?
