Started off happily for first 6 months its 142k 10 years it must of had ssome before....
Now rear window won't, latch or side windows go up or boot open to get in it ...after all this happened the other day . Need a specialist near Essex ish...or ill never get to Ultimate BMW.....

Finally got roof closed after 3 hours..
Temperament isnt the word...
Is it sulking, for not being used enough.Probably once or twice a week.And only once with the roof down..
I just leave it now and it just resets itself.. Tonight on the way on way home parked on the driveway, everything worked until it came to putting the windows back up and it stopped couldn't move, it couldn't do anything. I undid it again roof went on top and stuck there. I ended up pushing it back down after starting stopping, starting stopping with engine running with not engine running. Finally went in. Had dinner came out again. Just thought I'd try it one more time , before putting a car cover on it lifted it up 3 inches on the button put back down, everything resets, locks and everything closed up brilliant.
3 out of 4 of today's roof operations had trouble...just the amount of time to reset....
Don't think my nerves and anxiety can take it.😵‍💫
I'll use it as a coupê...😁😁
Still want to take it to the Alps 🥰

But i couldn't open the boot and switch was still bonging...shouldn't have touched it...

Hello, Just out of interest how old is the battery? If it's over 5 years old I would consider changing it, if the car is only used lightly I would also consider buying a trickle charger. Are you dropping the roof off the key fob or while inside the car with the engine running? Is there any evidence that the roof has had any repairs (broken wires/ micro switches) and have the relays been changed in the boot? I'm sure one of the roof experts will be along shortly.
 
@bigwinn has been fixing a few lately. He's in Lincoln which is a fair run from Essex, or you could arrange to meet at mine, just south of Norwich if that works?

Maybe Battery...??

Took a drive to braintree to get some cheap fuel 1.59 super.. Windows stuck down, rear window hatch, still flopping about banging about not lockdown.Got there, tried it in the car park, And it worked just udid a little bit then back down and everything locked up correctly..
I had a usb volt meter , and it was showing 14.4, ...volt meter taking whike to energizer up from 11volts so may be battery at fault..🤔

So a very spirted drive in some dual carriageway and very twisty lanes..👹

More likely to be a microswitch/ hall sensor or frayed wire in the roof loom than battery...but it could be.

11 volts at rest is too low. I am surprised the car will start on that. 14.4v when running just confirms the alternator is pumping out the correct voltage.

Corroded microswitches or broken wire(s) tend to give the symptoms yours is showing. A code reader should help to narrow it down a bit.
