New eventuri carbon airbox with maf

Looks like it might have been pointless fabricating a new filter housing to make this fit the Z4 then. Cant see them getting many orders from Z owners

Have had a blast with my carbon intake from them. If the new airbox sounds anything like the M3 CSL/rep airboxes (was lucky to ride shotgun in an M with the Turner unit), will definitely be ordering one. Big deal here in some states as flashing any non oem tune will make you fail emissions (sometimes even when reverted), no questions asked.

The guy who was kind enough to let me hear his (ofc with alpha-N tune) is getting his biennial test spoofed to avoid failing just due to his airbox.

Anything that involves someone else’s skilled labour is very expensive in Australia, as are aftermarket car parts. As such, fitting a carbon airbox and tuning the car on a dyno with an alpha-N map would be ridiculously expensive. Not to mention the lack of familiarity with our cars (there were only 100 Z4MCs registered here between 2006 and 2008).
That I could buy this in the UK, carry it back in a suitcase (reclaiming VAT at the airport), and then fit it myself makes it fairly tempting. As ever though, a big part of me still wants a supercharger:driving:

That’s interesting - seen a few of the (heated!) discussions on bimmerworld etc about this.

What does spoofing involve? Just programming the ECU to tell the emissions software what it wants to hear?

Uploading fake passing test results to the government. Unsure exactly how they do it, I'm guessing that's a secret of those government licensed testers willing to take the risk of a felony for a decent bit of enthusiasts' money.

Undercover cops with repo'd modified cars will walk in to a emissions testing location trying to find any hints of shady business, so you need to know someone who knows someone to get it done.

What is the opinion of the product from people who have tried it?
Ah sorry, I mean more general S54 conversations re. alpha-N tunes and state emissions ("smog") tests in certain US states. It seems you can pass with a custom tune, it's just a lot of work. There's some helpful advice along the lines of "STFU and just move state". 😂

Piss poor products, mates CSL carbon intake had such bad construction that the inside trumpets all dislodged. Bits of glue all over the place.. pretty glad that wasn’t my engine.. yeah not a fan. Stick with Karbonius.

@TomK so was the map bad?

Are those airbox failures before or after the guy behind eventuri got involved?
It was terrible.
I heard they tried to do an alpha-n map for the z4M, but users couldn't heal and toe because the map wouldn't allow throttle and brake application together:rofl:jokers

Who is this guy from eventuri you are talking about? As far as I was aware eventuri was just spun off the evolve name to sell those cone filters with carbon around them? The first picture above was from ~2020, so long after eventuri was created.

You’re not a fan are you..

I seem to remember there being a couple of failures around that time, not heard of any since though.

For a bit of balance, I’ve had mine 11 years and so far so good (runs to touch as much wood as possible)
