Hi!

Just started doing research into getting an E85 Z4. I'm 24 and after a fun car for the summer without breaking the bank. Looks like a 2.5-3L E85 would be a great fit. Look forward to hopefully finding a good example soon and learning to do some work on it!

Thanks :)

I know! I was looking at getting a normal car but after driving around in 1.2L hatchbacks for the last 6 years i realised it was time to get something a bit more fun...

Welcome Jamie :)
There are plenty of 2.5's around and they turn up in the classifieds quite regularly.
IF you can find a 3.0, it is the one to get - especially with the N52 engine.
Fun, they definitely are, and you have a superb support network here to advise and support.
Give your budget and those more knowledgeable on the E85 (I have an E89) will tell you what you can get.

Oh, and a great location to live - almost as good as Yorkshire! 😋

LoL. Welcome aboard. I was still riding a push pike at 24. If the numbers work go for the 3ltr. More umf for similar money.

Thanks for the advice! Not sure my budget stretches to a 3.0, only started having a proper look in the last couple of days. If i can i certainly will as they're a bit of an insurance black hole, for a 24 year old its still only £450 to insure! Any other 3 litre would be upwards of £800-£900..

Most other 3 litre cars are not as much fun either! :)
Give a budget and people will tell you what you should expect to get - and what to look for!

Where would be best to make a post like that? Just a general forum post? I'm unfamiliar with how these kinds of groups work!

The Peaks has fantastic scenery, great roads and lovely pubs - it's the perfect destination to spend a couple of hours in a Zed and certainly my default destination when I want to get out in mine.

Have a look in the vehicles only for sale section and if you don't see anything you like just post a Wanted ad 👍

Hi from just north of Ashbourne and welcome!

Get a 3.0si if you can, I had a 3.0si coupe for over 5 years as a daily when I was 24, I bloody loved it! Put 60k on it - it was the perfect daily and fun car all rolled into one! Good luck with your search :)

Hi and welcome to the forum Jamie.

A 3.0Si is a great car - I've had two Coupes with that engine and loved them both.

But if insurance would be an issue with a 3 litre it might be worth looking for a facelift 2.5Si (not a facelift 2.5i as it is down on power). It will have a 6 speed gearbox (pre facelift 2.5i models were 5 speed) and if you find a Sport model it will have the highly desirable M-Sport seats.

Anyway good luck finding the right Z4.
