ENET and BimmerCode

Should a ENET cable connected to my 2010 E89 work with BimmerCode? I can't seem to get a connection to BimmerCode but I do see the iPad getting an IP address.

Other than for CIC
?? What? ENET doesn't work for anything on E-Series.
The ENET cable terminates in an RJ45 Ethernet plug, the cable for our cars and all E-Series terminates in a USB. Now the ICOM terminates with an RJ45 but that is a completely different fish altogether. Also ENET cables don't work with programs like INPA, NCSExpert, Tool32 etc, but they do work with E-Sys which is the F-Series program for coding and fault finding.

I could well be mixing things up but I thought I read something about CIC being the only module in an E chassis vehicle being ethernet enabled. What I failed to account for was the fact that the OBD connector in the E89 is no doubt not wired for it.

You are right that the CIC is (should be) wired directly to the OBD socket. But the ENET cable doesn't work with the programs that work with E-Series, so the average owner cant do this, the only thing that may work with it in that way would be, as mentioned above, an ICOM and that is an expensive piece of kit.
