Does anyone here do the 'classic shows' in the UK?

I don't know if anyone does the 'classic' scene, as I don't recall seeing anything posted over the years.

I have a list of some of the 'big' classics (mainly east midlands area), some of which I have booked to take the Fauxrrari to (weather and speedo issues permitting).

If anyone is interested, I can post some links.

Surely you need the kit car scene? Big show at Stoneleigh in July...

I'm not into 'kit cars', bizarrely. Mine is a 'classic' in it's own right, as over twenty years old.
I know many on the 'other' Z forum are into classic shows, just wondered if it was a thing for anyone here.

I've been to the one on Paignton Green and at Ottery St Mary that are very friendly, the one at Paignton had a blue Z3M coupe in amazing condition. The Ottery one was huge, some great cars. These shows seem to allow cars older than 2000 but for a proper classic car show over 40 years old, Powderham castle is the place to go around here. I haven't visited this one yet but might this year. It would be nice to buy an old MGB or a Midget and be able to join in.

Classic car shows are a massive 'thing' these days. The hardest part is finding them, as the 'smaller' ones tend to only advertise locally on Faceache and the like.

There is a huge one near me at Grimsthorpe Castle, near Bourne, Lincs which is very, very popular. It's called "FOTU" (festival of the unexceptional) and showcases any old crap from days past. I haven't been yet, but may do this year. Ticket prices aren't cheap.

I think out Z4s are mostly too new to qualify as "classics" yet, although early ones are now over 20 years old.

We have a monthly car meet at local pub each month that gets a bit of everything. 30s Bentleys, E-Types, Fast Fords, air-cooled VWs, Porsches Ferraris, Lamborghinis, TVRs and sometimes some Z4s!

And unlike shows you don't need to book or pay, just turn up. So if it's pissing down just have a lie-in.

Yeah I get that Iain, but as the demographic on here is a certain average vintage, I thought quite a few would still attend classic shows, as spectators.

Maybe Andrew.

Although while I fall into that demographic I've done so many classic shows in the last 40 years or so they have all got a bit samey now, which is why I like that monthly pub meet as there is usually something totally different that turns up.

Like this Acome Mini Comtesse that turned up in 2023.

Go to a few here in South Wales and beyond usually with the Z3 but sometimes the Z4. Most usually run by local car clubs.

FOTU doesn't really count as a Classic Car Show in the conventional sense and it has evolved somewhat from it's origins since Hagerty became involved. As you say, it's very popular now.

Attended the NEC Birmingham classic car show in November for the first time in 10 years which is an excellent show, returned to the practical and classics resto mod show recently and again well worth visiting. You may find a coffee and classics meet up close to you as I did here in the Edinburgh area, Meet up monthly for a couple of hours in various surrounding areas and always a good turn out of cars (not many Z4s) the odd one or two. Kit cars pop up at these meets as well.

I go to Donington Classic and will be doing so this year.

I don’t do showing my cars at car shows though. Not my thing at all.

Up here in Lancashire there are a lot of classic car shows, mainly promoted via social media. And I attend a lot of them, either with the G29 or my other "classic" Subaru Impreza RB5. I also owned a couple of TVR,s and still go to the car club meets, they have a thriving classic car show calendar whether its a TVR or not... Ide suggest looking on the socials and local car clubs to find out the dates.. Im pretty sure there will be a lot...
