Hi All,
I will be shortly upgrading to a more track-dedicated front brake setup, to my front AP Racing 5575 Kit, is now for sale
My particular kit has been on the car approx. 10 years. The calipers have had a rebuild and been painted, but this approx. 6 yrs ago, and there has subsequently been bit of paint discolouration and flaking, mostly due to heat-cycling from track.
The Brakes work precisely as they should - I have recently replaced some of the bleed nipples with new ones, and have recently bled them all fine, so all nipples are free.
This is a truly fantastic upgrade for anyone wanting some serious stopping power on the road or track. I'm literally only upgrading because the Pro-5000R kit I'm planning to buy will allow me to run bigger diameter, thicker BTCC discs and thicker pads which is obviously more optimal for trackdays/ring trips. I've done 3 ring trips and half a dozen trackdays with this setup, and have NEVER found the limit of the 5575 Kit, even on semi-slicks.
Details on the kit can be found here from the AP website:
apracing.com
The Kit will also come with a set of at least half-worn Ferodo DS2500s, however full disclosure these have just done a ring trip, so they have been used hard. There is plenty of life left in them if you want to keep them in on either the old or new discs. Alternatively you may want a new set of pads to go with the new discs - you can get Mintex 1144 pads from MS Motorsport for £160, or a variety of other more track-oriented pads for more money - if I do keep these, I'll be buying RSL29s or Raybestos ST45s but that's all personal preference, I'm not buying those for the next owner!
The kit for sale AP 5575-1010 Kit, comprises the following;
6-piston Calipers refurbished approx. 8 years ago in blue with Silver AP Racing writing - paint has some chips and flakes, and is a little discoloured from heat, but they still look presentable (I will post pics up if there's any interest)
1 set of BRAND NEW Braided brake lines
1 set of caliper adapters to fit to the Z4M Hubs
1 set of AP Racing bells with BRAND NEW AP Racing discs (356x32mm) freshly fitted with ZERO MILES.
1-set of at least half-worn Ferodo DS2500 brake pads - most recent use as above, but still performing faultlessly.
(I can include a set of brand new unused Mintex 1144 fast road pads for an additional £120 if it helps the new buyer - I was planning to use these as my road pads in the new setup but appreciate the prospective buyer of these may want some new pads with the kit!
Please note I do not want to be posting these. I'm happy to package up but please look to arrange your own courier, or alternatively I can do collection from Ashbourne or Frimley, or can meet you anywhere in between, up the M1/M40/M42, or the pertinent section of the M25 on my way to/from the office.
This kit is around £3.6k depending on your pad selection,
Considering I will be including brand new discs fitted to the bells with brand new bolts thread-locked and torqued to spec and marked, and brand new braided brake lines, I would be looking for £2,000 for these. (£2120 including the new pads)
Any questions let me know!
Cheers
Ed
