Osram LED XTR H7

Anyone running these in their halogen Z?

Contemplating fitting them to my '06 but seems there's mixed opinion on whether they're plug and play or require the 64210DA06-1 adapter.

Interested to see the replies to this too. I recently 'upgraded' mine to the Osram Nightbreaker halogen bulbs, supposedly 220% brighter. no difference.

Think you will find it's illegal to fit led bulbs into halogen lights. Will fail at MOT.
I 'think' they only check the beam pattern of dipped beam, so if that's the case you could fit them in the main beams.

I haven't fitted them but for sure you will need that adapter because the center of the halogen clip is rectangular and it won't let the LED through because the Osram LED is circular.

Also, you will have to get some sort of resistor to not get a bulb out warning or constant flickering because the Z's computer will constantly be checking for halogen bulbs to see if they're blown out -- wattage is different with an LED so it'll turn them off or give you a constant bulb out light or both.

Or you can code out the bulb check with a laptop and software on your Z.

The halogen headlights have a projector lens in front of the bulb so the pattern is correct with LED bulbs in, and doesn’t blind oncoming traffic. Non-projector headlights are the ones that blind everyone (and don’t throw light correctly) with LEDs in.

Technically you are correct though. In practice it doesn’t get picked up due to the lens.

Wot Keys sed. I've had Bevinsee LEDs in my halogen protectors for about 3 weeks less than I've had the car (they were that abysmal on the drive home) and it's gone through 3 MOTs without murmur. I do a lot of night driving and I've never been flashed either.

Cheers for the replies, I will get an adaptor and give it a go. MOT due shortly so probably get it through on the halogens first.
