Throttle adaption reset.

So i have fitted a throttle pedal adapter last year or so, wouldn't be without it.
But noticed it' s effect diminished, like the car was changing how it was reacting to throttle.
Watched a video of BMW reset adaptions and it worked.
Now instant throttle response.
Video said, insert key, hold accelerator pedal down for 1 minute and take key out, then off pedal.
Reset adaptions.
Seems very similar to the MGTF i owned.
That was either floor accelerator few times to get into sport mode, or pump throttle, usually about 5 times with ignition on..

Interesting. I’ve heard of that “reset adaptation” trick but never seen solid proof it actually recalibrates anything long-term.
Could just be throttle mapping relearning after the battery cycle, but if it feels sharper again, that’s what matters. Curious how long the improvement lasts.

Yes i will see how long it lasts.
Could do monthly reset.

I always thought that after BMW association with building of the MGTF similar throttle set up might be implemented.
Might be so on lots of manufacturers.

I’d not given the Adaptive aspect a thought but mine does seem to feel more responsive and eager to rev than it did a week ago. Maybe my driving style is significantly different to the previous “careful lady owner” and the car is adapting. Or maybe it’s placebo and just me getting used to it. Who knows?

Most BMW engine ECUs (not transmissions) ONLY adapt long term fuel trims..ergo for most its a placebo.. unless you re-map it or have a tuning box in the way..

Nope - not a placebo. Not 100% sure what exactly it is resetting, but the 'hold the throttle in / switch off' definitely does 'something'.

Go try it & report back your findings.

I have a custom tune so its not applicable to me..

The guy who tunes mine and over 500 N54s and has written his own N54 programs points this out..if you have an auto box TCU that changes its behaviour on reset..not the DME

No for me 100% change. If it drifts off i will do every month.
I can get similar effect through Foxwell obd, but can never remember the steps to achieve.
Throttle adapter dozens of videos various cars yet can i remember what it's called..no.
