What’s this hanging from the rear of my Z4

Hi all

Was prepping my exhaust for new tips and found this hanging from the underneath of the car. Any ideas what it is? What do I do with it?

Already have parking sensors in the rear bumper

aftermarket sensor. have a look underneath the boot carpet see if you trace the wires.

Ok thanks, any idea what it’s supposed to sense? If I find the wire do I just pull it to retract sensor?

I mounted just above number plate.
Drilled hole in plastic bumper and threaded lead to left rear lamp and through a spare grommet.
Only downside is i get glare from number plate lights at night.
Was going to try to fit a small plastic tube to see if i can stop that.
I guess the op pic it was mounted under the bumper.
Good anti glare but a bit low and cop's road crap.

You’d be right, still haven’t decided what to do with it and can’t really see where it once lived

Well I'd say it would have been somewhere central to the rear number plate. Mine mounts over the top of it, with the cable going through a hole behind and then the rubber bung into the car on the right side.

I would also get on some corossion protection quite a bit of surface rust under there. Wire brush and underseal it with some wax oil or something like Lanoguard

No, I'm not surprised
No I doubt very much it's salvagable, but it would be replaceable.
Obviously depends where it comes into the car and then runs from there, and even what ir ran to (as in what it displayed on/from).
This is an old video of mine but it shows how to get to everything that you need to (I no longer recommend to power or fit a camera as I show in the video)....
