Wanted
Hello, I will be selling my original 3.0 manual E89 in a few month's time when I get my E39 sorted with rebuilt engine. I am 100 miles from you.

Feel free to ask any questions. You can read my posts on here since buying from Bristol 18 months ago.
Many thanks mate! I shall read up on your posts tonight/tomorrow once I'm free (currently preparing the house for my son's 8th birthday tomorrow)

This one just popped up on eBay:
Is it me, or are prices going up?
£9,000 for an early N52 with plenty of miles seems steep. And they all seem to be around that money.

I am wondering too. Although it depends if they are selling at that rate, or merely asking....

Problem is that if everyone is asking the same prices, those become the prices. Especially as it seems no-one seems to 'need' to sell their cars anymore so are reluctant to reduce prices; and those that do sell direct to the trade who then mark up the prices back to the original. It seems like the entire car market is being 'artificially inflated'.

I have seen many (many) cars on the market which have been there forever (months and years) with no reduction in price. Private sellers also ask the same prices as dealers which is nuts and I have never understood. I am seeing more and more 'CAT' cars at the same prices as non aswell which completely mystifies me.
It never used to be like this in the UK. The car market went nuts during Covid; not just price rises but attitudes to selling, and has never recovered back to the way it used to be.

There is no such thing as a bargain car anymore.

Prices on here always seem to be cheaper though.
Not in my experience. I have seen quite a few cars on the for sale pages that just drop down the listings and then 2 years later someone asks if it's still for sale....and it is! If you ain't selling within two years there is something wrong and it is ALWAYS the price.
I go by the old saying "anything will sell at the right price" as it is true.

Hey everyone!

Bumping this up as I've made up my mind on the engine. Over the weekend I test drove an E85 2006 Z4 30si after someone reached out. The E85 cockpit does feel a bit more tight on my 6'4" body and legs, but I made it work. The key was that sweet 3.0L engine - Wow!!!! No doubt in my mind that 3.0L is the engine for me. Now the key is to find the right car!

Autotrader listings do seem to quite a bit higher than I'd expect -£10-12k for cars sometimes without even the extras I'd hope for (mainly the heated seats and parking sensors - not essential but hoped for). I suspect it'll be sacrificing somewhere on my wish list to get myself in one - either accept higher mileage, or bare-bones spec, or one with lots of extra work to do (suspension refresh, tires/wheels, etc).

Wish me luck on the search, and kind thank you to those who have sent me options to check out so far!

Good to know you managed to get a drive with a 3 litre N52.

TBF the 2.5 litre I had in a 325i ran just as sweetly but obviously lacks some power compared to the 3 litre, which may explain why I only kept the 325i a year before replacing it with a 330i!

That's great news. I hope you are going to share details on here though!

Good luck finding one, but it might be worth starting your own thread in the "Wanted" section of the Classifieds.
