I have to say that I do find it strange that, as advocates of the ZM, we do tend to play everything down in retrospect of the car rather than to extol its virtues. Yes a Japanese import may be harder to sell on, and might be more expensive to insure but equally it might have an unusual (eg nicer) spec and be in better order overall. They usually are, that’s why people spend energy importing them. So, as I say, if you are in for the long haul then an import shouldn’t be perceived as a complete negative. The only good thing about a U.K. registered original is just that it’s traceable. However a lot of those, by now, will have had some element of the wilderness years in its history - not being serviced or sitting on a drive somewhere with somebody who can’t afford to run it……. There are good cars out there. You just need to search and be patient.
