Sound generator rattle

Just fitted a sound generator to my car and I'm getting a rattle if i lightly touch the accelerator, it stops the more I accelerate, I'm pretty sure I've fitted everything correctly.

Any ideas what's causing this?

Well, if it wasn't there and then you did something............................ ;)

Double check everything you did. If nothing loose then possibly there was already an issue inside the generator.

possibly something is loose.

do you have a bulkhead cowling to hold the sound generator on the bulkhead

By cowling do you mean the rubber grommet?

It took a while to get that to seat in the bulkhead but it was nice and secure and the pipe into the cabin is definitely not rattling,

I'll check under the bonnet tomorrow to check the intake connections are OK and report back.

You're welcome to pop over to midlands HQ or come to our meet on Sunday where you can check your install against mine or others.

The meet in in the events section.

Odd, as mine does this too. Also retrofitted to a 2.2. It's really only noticeable with both sponges removed, and sounds like a vibration/rattle at the start of the rev range. I've checked everything and can only assume that it is the diaphragm vibrating. I can replicate the noise if I tap the diaphragm area under the bonnet, it almost sounds like something inside it is loose. If you do find out what it is, I'd be interested too. Currently using just one sponge, so I can't hear it - 2 out was a bit loud anyway! Also, I've always wondered whether the diaphragms could fail with time and allow unmetered air into the engine, causing running issues?

Is diaphragm spring rattle a thing?

Checked my connections under the bonnet all look good,

I'm pretty sure it's the actual sound generator, I've put the second piece of foam back in and I can hardly hear it now, the induction noise is better with both pieces in if you ask me but the foam that came with mine are small and look like they were made from pipe lagging.
