NO LONGER NEEDED Spare 245/40 R18 tyre near Sevenoaks, Kent

Hi all,

I recently bought some new wheels (APEX ARC-8) and now they’ve arrived, I’m a little concerned that the fronts (9” wide, ET30) might rub. Before I buy brand new tyres I was wondering if anyone near Sevenoaks, Kent has a spare old 245/40 R18 road tyre going that I could use to test the fit?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry I can't help with a tyre, but looking at your second photo I think you might struggle to keep the tyre inside the arch.

Have you tried putting details into a website like "willtheyfit"?

I spent a lot of time researching fitment (even made a thread with some of my findings) before buying the wheels.

I've currently got a 19x8.5" wheel on there which I've measured to have an offset of 38mm, along with a 245/35 tyre, and this fits easily under the arch. I used 'willtheyfit' to compare to the new wheel and tyre I wanted to go with and it showed 14mm of additional poke on the rim, but I was hoping that using the same tyre width as I've currently got means it would just about fit under the arch!

I'm running just over 2 degrees of negative camber at the moment and going by the APEX website I was also hoping I wouldn't need to go with much more negative camber to fit these wheels.

Hi,

A 9” ET30 front on the ARC-8 can be close depending on ride height, camber, and arch clearance. A 245/40 R18 is a sensible size to test, but make sure you check full lock and suspension compression.

If you can’t find a spare tyre locally, some independent garages will do a quick test fit before you buy new tyres. Tyreworks & Auto Care tyres Gloucester do this sort of thing and it can save you committing to tyres that don’t quite work.

Hope that helps

You inspired me to call my local tyre fitter and they were very helpful on the phone and have said I can come and pick from their pile of scrap tyres - thanks!

Re-opening this because I'm getting "tyred" (;)) of digging through the tyres at my local tyre fitter in the rain and not finding anything suitable. I'm going to post on M3 Cutters as well.
