Couldn’t find anywhere to post this but as the title says , looking for a recommendation, preferably someone who has actually used the service for an M sport steering wheel retrim. Not Royals.

Thanks

No estoy satisfecho con la calidad del reajuste de los Royals en mi rueda actual y me arrepiento de haberlo usado. ¿Por qué usamos el español?
It’s French ..but I gather you’ve had bad service?

Je ne suis pas satisfait de la qualité des finitions Royals sur mon volant actuel et je regrette de les avoir choisis. Pourquoi utilise-t-on du français ?

The purpose of this thread wasn’t to slag off Royals but it seems to have evolved to a point where I need to add context.

I paid Royals for a retrim , along with an extra £60 to do a gear lever gaiter.

I discussed what I wanted and my order was accepted. After various long conversations where I was belittled and told I should look at the road and not the steering wheel & that perforated leather caused the problem, insinuating it was my fault , I eventually got tired of arguing and accepted a £40 gesture of good will.

This was months ago, really annoyingly I had two decent other M Sport wheels I put on my son’s cars . Currently I have this wheel and cannot bring myself to fit it, the gaiter is too small too and they destroyed my decent original to make a pattern.

Really disappointed with Royals, I have seen their work before I took the plunge and they were going to get another two from me.

I am at a point where I am considering taking them to the small claims court on principle.

Of course Jack could be right and I could just be unreasonable , I will let you make your own decision on that.

Going back on track, anyone have any recommendations please?

That's sad to hear, I was very pleased with the wheel refurb they did for me. I know they get very busy but thats not an excuse.

Never heard a bad word said about Royals but I guess every service provider is only ever one customer away from providing a poor service.

Shame they didn't resolve it effectively - there's no excuse for that.

I've used Royal Steering Wheels before and was totally satisfied...though I didn't hold a magnifying glass to the stitching 😆

Your money and your car, but I would have been satisfied with that.

Pleased you are happy with yours, I have not held a magnifying glass to it, it looks at you like a wort on a super models nose.

My frustration is that they are clearly more capable than what I have received.

Yes I am fussy but I asked for a service and he gave me a price. Here’s a picture of my own work on a standard wheel using a £2 cover from Temu. Be gentle but it was my first attempt, I honestly think my stitching is better.

Again the post isn’t here to argue Royals quality , I genuinely want my steering wheel retrim to a high standard and am looking for recommendations.

I'm not going to slag off Royal, as i had them retrim my M4's steering wheel and it looked stunning. Like you I was fussy so I am sorry you've had a bad experience.

That being said the Temu cover you mentioned and stitched yourself looks good, kudos to you.

I saw these guys on the M4 forum the other day:

I have not experience with them though.

FYI tri colour stitching Nappa M Sport e85 wheel re-trim with Perforated sides £145 +VAT+ post.

Currently talking to someone else in Lichfield , as they are more local too and I can physically take it to them/collect, will add prices when available.

Like many on the Forum I have had first rate experiences with Royal’s. So far I have had three wheels recovered by them. But you can only speak as you find. It is always helpful to have alternatives. So please keep us informed of your progress. Good luck with the search.
