Hello all!
New owner of 2012 Z4 28i. Since I have purchased vehicle I have been searching for forums for Z4's. I purchased car knowing the valve cover gasket was leaking and I have already upgraded it to an aluminum valve cover. When I was performing the brake and under car inspection I had car on jack stands and now it blew code for Dynamic damping control. All struts are operating correctly but as with most BMW's is also causing loss of power and so on. So I am searching forum for a good OB2 code scanner that is bi-directional and BMW INPA. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My Autel will read but will not reset and I want to be able to possible code software.
Thank you in advance!

Welcome..interesting version 29i..

So your car has electronic damping?

ISTA for your PC or Bimmergeeks Protool app are your best choices..

28i - typo - correct version in title. My first Z4. It has electronic damping control and is a 2012 BMW Z4 e89 i4 cylinder 2.0 ltr n20 twin turbo. I need to reset the Dynamic damping control module. I t evidently didn't like being on jack stands overnight.
I have read that the ISTA for PC may not work on newer PC's - is that correct?
Thank you for your reply!

Should run fine on win 10 / win 11..

I’m running it on both

Unsure why lifting the car should affect the adaptive damping ECU..

The only thing that I can think of that effected the dynamic dampening after having car on jack stands is that I did go in and out of sport/ comfort modes. The valve cover was leaking oil when I purchased and I upgraded valve cover to aluminum, changed oil/filter and cleaned rotors and brake calipers on all four corners.IMG_9568.jpeg

I have ISTA running on Win 11

That’s the question- my Autel didn’t pick up a code- just on the display and it does cause car to randomly go into low power mode. I am away from home and when I get back I will download ISTA and get a cable or different scanner. Having owned BMW’s in the past something tells me I will need one.:)
