New handbrake mechanism availability.

As the title suggests, I need a new handbrake due to the teeth issue. I'm aware they can be filed/dremmelled but are they, or a compatible model item actually available as a new item?

Curious - is this wear to the teeth from applying the handbrake? I rarely use my handbrake, only hill starts but always leave in gear when parked up to be fair.

Part number 34406774798, around ยฃ376 new if available. Suggest a second-hand one. You can replace it from inside the car by bending the metal surround rather than dropping the prop.

I have a good 2 nd hand one for Sale
Let me know if interested

I can get good used ones easily, automatic as they're secondary to putting the car in park. I've seen on Real OEM that they were interchangeable with another part number. I'm aware of the replacement from inside too.

I'm just wondering if anybody has bought a new one recently.

They havenโ€™t been available new for quite a few years. The E85/86 handbrake has only ever been available for the E85/86, no other models unit will fit. There have been several different part numbers used over the E85/86 model years though.

Ordered one off Synter. 5 to 10 days delivery and it's a case just using the lever mechanism. Their data explains that the part requires using the original pan to replace the lever. But as I'll be going in from the top this is ok.

Sytner are famous for not having stock of things they claim to be selling. Let us know if it turns up!

Yup. If Sytner had half the stuff they claim to have, we'd all be happy, but I've lost count of the amount of people who've told me they have a new airbag module coming from them, then it turns out to be misinformation. I wouldn't mind but the bloody idiots don't update their records, just keep giving everyone the same run around.

Great result, regardless.
