Top Scam

I avoid the plether of Z sites on Facebook, too many numpties on them stick with the pucker forums

Just work on the assumption that all cars for sale on Marketplace are a scam and you wont go far wrong.
I had someone try and scam me on a pushbike I was selling on FB! Don't quite know what their angle was, as never got that far.

I think it was a 'great unwashed' person who thought others were more stupid than them. ;)

The amount of scams on Facebook market place is enormous and Facebook don't want to know about it, I saw a nice X3 that was locally for sale. On one of the pictures I noticed a dealer sticker on the boot lid, a little bit of internet investigation later and I found the exact same photos in a car dealership in Buenos Aires  I reported it and Facebook didn't want to know. A good indication is when a little old lady is selling a car for less than its worth and you then look to see what else she's selling... 30 high quality vehicles /vans / speedboats, those little old ladies!

What really frustrates me is how Facebook has “fact checkers,” but they only seem to focus on whatever’s politically relevant at the moment. They do nothing to protect people from scams. I reported this person to Facebook and got a reply saying nothing in his posts violated their guidelines — disappointing.

I was supposed to meet this guy to buy a hardtop. A few days before, he said his wife had cancer and needed money right away. He asked if I could send part of the payment early. When I said I couldn’t, he ghosted me. Just a waste of time — I really had my hopes up about getting a hardtop locally. Winter is coming.

I’ve bought my car on Marketplace and sold items there too. There are good people out there — I’ve met them. But I’m just tired of the bad ones. I wanted to give everyone a heads-up so you don’t waste your time like I did.
