As it's name implies a pretty typical NC500..anti-clockwise this time.

Starting and finishing at the Premier Inn, Inverness West.

Routing on day 1 via Lairg and a few hinterland roads, cause they are much much better than the A9

Staying at the Ulbster Arms hotel where we have stayed many times.

Day 2 is the 'normal' route to Ullapool staying at the Royal Hotel.

Day 3 is the 'normal' route via Applecross.

Fairly long driving days 5 hours plus of driving plus stops....not for the pottering types.

Restricted to 6 hotel rooms and 7 cars max.

Some hotel bookings are for doubles.Applecross.jpg

Hotels are booked for Saturday the 28th through to 1st April

Average cost for the 4 nights around £425 per room.

Anyone that is on the fence about doing this take my advice and do it . Peter knows the roads like the back of his hand and walkie talkies are normally supplied so you can all keep in touch with each other . As Peter has stated it is not for the pottering driver but there are slower sections and the views are outstanding . If you like good food and drink and a laugh with like minded people this is the trip for you . It was so good we are seriously considering doing it again but are already booked on the Pyrenees and Northern Iberia Tour. Decisions Decisions

I'd agree with all of the above. It's the first trip of Peter's I did in my car in 2023 and I had a great time, which may explain why I've been on 4 more of his trips since! :D

That is a spectacular photograph

Sadly not mine...we are too busy negotiating the hairpins at the time..but..that is the view (subject to weather) that you will see going anticlockwise.

One of the maybe not so obvious points is that the vistas change markedly depending which way you go round!

Silly question, there are stops en-route for lunch breaks and photo opportunities aren't there.??

Just contemplating this...In my G29

Most days are around 5 ish hours ..6 hours tops in extremis….we tend to leave around 0900-0930 plan to get to the hotel for 17:00 ish

So that leaves 3 hours ish for morning coffee , lunch , pee stops and photos … generally its not a major photo shoot trip…maybe 3 or 4 special shots in addition to stop times..

Problem is it’s often impossible to stop where you want with 6 cars…most stopping points are 2-4 cars in kength..that’s assuming a £@€kimg camper van isn’t hogging it..

Part of the reason for going early /late in the season is to shake of the scourge of these white boxes.

If you’re into more of a traditional sight seeing trip best to organise your trip and take say 5 days …some folks think 7 days is too much of a rush..

This will be at least my tenth NC500 so we of course have taken many pics on many trips..

Day 2 of the NC500…Halkirk to Ullapool

Roads pretty empty able to do what is a 5 hour day according to Google in a bit over 4 hours..

On a bad day it could be a 7 hour day.

Mostly top down…carried some great speeds over the ground..

By NC500 standards a lot of resurfaced roads..

Yellow Peril performing superbly over very bumpy very twisting roads..best ever so far..

Hotels great de32fa2c-a187-4f2d-b799-859869292368.jpegIMG_0935.jpegIMG_0930.jpegIMG_0945.jpegIMG_0946.jpegIMG_1501.jpegIMG_1503.jpegIMG_1506.jpegIMG_1505.jpegIMG_1509.jpeg
