Remapping Q.

Does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere to remap a 20i please? Ideally somewhere in the south east but hapot to travel for the best company. Also if anyone has any horror stories or places to avoid...Happy to hear both sides. Thanks!

Up to you.
You can spend £300 on a bloke with a laptop coming to your house and uploading the (generic) files, or you can spend a lot more taking the car to a place with a fancy rolling road who will do exactly the same thing then give you a pretty bit of paper with some lines on it....after thrashing f**k out of your stationary engine for ten minutes.

I went with the former via Superchips (now owned by Remap King) back in 2021 and the car is still owned by a forum member who has had no problems with it AFAIK.
I've used Superchips to remap three cars now (1 diesel and 2 petrol). Never had an issue with any of them.

BTW whichever you go for it makes a hell of a difference with the generic "280bhp" map.

Depends on the age of your 20i..earlier ones had weak HPFPs..

I’d strongly advocate getting a ‘proper’ tune on a dyno with a before and after runs..

So someone with a dyno, track record on N20s

Plenty around ..just sorting out the many cowboys that just flash a recycled bootleg tune …

They don’t take kindly to gash tunes..more bore score failures appearing ..

I now own Andy’s wife’s car and have done for nigh on two years. It has been totally reliable so far and the remap certainly makes it quite quick. I have previously owned a 3.5 is and whilst the 2 litre engine in my current car doesn’t produce that lovely six cylinder growl it handles a lot better. So far so good.👍

Thanks for the replies all. I'll do some further digging around to see but certainly Evolve or Avon looks like a good shout for the moment.

Depending on where exactly the south east is, I've had three cars remapped at Angel tuning in banbury, all have been great.

I had my 20i remapped by Celtic Tuning 4 years ago. Celtic Tuning - BMW Z4 (E89) 20i N20 Remap. They did their Stage 3 remap which adds +99bhp +91lb/ft. Totally transformed the car. They partner with mobile engineers so I had one come to my house and they did the work on the driveway. Cost about £300.
