E89 audio upgrade

This subject again. The basic six speaker system is terrible. I wanted something simple that didn’t require the car being torn apart and many installers say they can do it saying it’s the same as other contemporaneous BMWs. Well it isn’t as it doesn’t have under seat speakers and it has a collapsible hardtop. So buying a speaker set from day vibe is not feasible as they provide the under seat woofer. Which I can’t fit.

Ditto some threads have said its the speakers at fault others the head unit. I am
baffled….

The question is therefore how best can I improve the sound by buying replacement speakers for the six already installed in the car and to buy a tweeter fir where there is currently a hole. I do not an amplifier nor to cut wiring so simple replacement speakers are best fir me at this stage. What about bavsound? Any experience??

Advice please. I have read all the threads and they appear to be more complex solutions.

Thanks. Well the door speakers are in! I wish I had four hands to hole the tweeter, the crossover, the door panel and keeping the wires out of the way. After a whijdxsnd copious swearing it’s all back in. The crossover was a major pain. Sound? It’s better so well worth it. Woofers tomorrow. BTW can anyone show me the e89 window reset procedure. It doesn’t do automatic up on the drivers door. I know the e85 one but not the e89 process. Thanks

Me again. So, the Hertz speakers recommended by ARCS are no longer plug and play as they gave a different connector. However I butchered the old speaker and used the connector off that and soldered it to the terminals of the new one. I used the frame of the old speaker to mount the hertz and it’s okay no more than that. It seems to fit but the speaker cover is being difficult to refit but then I do need a new clip…..it does work though.

Onto the drivers footwell. I am anxious about pulling off the bonnet release handle as I don’t want to break it or have a non operational bonnet. Can anybody please let me know precisely what to do here before I go further. I wish there was you tube on footwells. Thank you

It has a Philips headed centre screw holding it in place ..unscrew it and the bonnet handle falls off..then you can pull the trim panel back and out

Trouble is it’s not falling off at all. It’s stuck tight. Can you reassure me please that the mechanism to release the bonnet stays out when you remove the handle? Thank you

Other things to note when doing drivers footwell. There is a bong speaker - I can only assume it is - in the drivers underdash panel. Abd j had a small module fall down too. And it’s easier to remove the tricky speaker cover if you unbolt the accelerator pedal.

None if this is particularly difficult but getting panels back together requires patience and having the knack. Unfortunately I am doing it by trial and error

Finally, while the drivers speaker still needed its connectors changing, it sat much more easily in the original basket and did not need to butcher the basket of the original to fit it

They are asymmetrical

It’s a Bluetooth aerial module
