Going to replace my ashtray with storage compartment

I wasn't sure if I should post this here, or in the HOW-TO. I assume the HOW-TO section is to give instruction, not to ask for it. If I am mistaken, I apologize.

Back to my questions:

When I replace the ashtray with a storage bin, can I relocate the ciragette lighter to the empty circle hole under the glove compartment (presumed to be for a 12-volt lighter on some models)?
I saw a video of someone replacing the ashtry with a bin, but that was the end of his scope of work. It looks like there's a 3-pin plug powering the lighter. Can I extend this over to the glove compartment via a 3-pin extension cable, or am I splicing wires? Is there already a 3-pin plug over there I can use instead? I assume some versions include a lighter in that hole, so maybe my wiring harness already has nearby untapped power.

Can anyone suggest parts I may need if such an extension cable exists, or if there's already a tutorial someone can link to?

In short, yes you can.
The footwell position was for an optional 12v socket, as you say.
I would get hold of some relevant wire (2.5mm for the positive and ground wires and .35mm for the lighting), and then chop the loom side plug off, connecting in the new wire with solder-shink connections, and terminating at the footwell position again with solder-shrink connections to the cut off plug. Nice neat job, with a bit of cloth wrap tape

I may do that this winter..more useful than farting around inside the central storage area..🧐👌😳

Can this bit be added on in addition?
Was it part of a package?
Yes it can.
As per the wiring diagram, all three sockets run from the same fuse
EDIT** My comment above, regarding extending the wires, if you were to add in this footwell socket in addition to the existing ashtray one then you wouldn't need the .35mm wire for the light, as the footwell proper socket doesn't have a light.

I know it will be in real oem but anyone have the part numbers to hand for the footwell cigar lighter parts?

Silly question, but if you don’t know, you don’t know:

What sort of wiring do you use for this?
Is there an oem standard?

I found the socket today. Would be cool to use it for charging passenger phones etc.

As mentioned, 2.5mm automotive wire, something like this...
