Clear 3rd brake light

Hi,

Does anyone have any good recommendations for a good quality aftermarket clear 3rd brake light for an E85?

I had two genuine OE. First cracked and was replaced under warranty despite much whining and protesting from BMW (as I had fitted it myself, along with the weaker springs).

The replacement did the same. I can't remember if I got another lamp out of them.

I got a cheap Chinese copy for about £20 on aliexpress and it has been fine for years.
 
I have never found a good aftermarket one yet. They never sit quite flush in the aperture, the one I have for now will do but I will move the inits to the oem unit for the better fit when I have time for that
 
I just replaced my clear CHMSL with an OEM unit off of Ebay. When it comes to these things (for me), only OEM will do.
 
I installed one cheap copy from Ebay and then ordered oem the same day. The one from Ebay did not sit flush, the sealing was crap and the connector was wrong.
 
Here’s a little tip for these: Apply a small bead of bathroom clear sealant before tightening the nuts. let it fully set then gently do the nuts up to squish the bead of silicone..
