Dashcam

Anyone using a Fitcamx dashcam?

I had one on the Audi that I am getting out of and for the money I think they're pretty good.
Good quality, fit them yourself in 10 minutes, no trailing wires.

Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure for the previous models, definitely available to fit G29s.

I looked at them. One listed for G29, after sending pics at their request, they recommended a different one saying the one for the G29 wouldn’t fit!

Lost all confidence in them at that point.

Weird, they have one listed for the G29.

There were no issues with the Audi cam I had from them.
Straight swap for the RVM housing, plug n play with the electrics.

I'll have a look....

Yes, but when I enquired about it, telling them I had a 2020 G29 30i, they requested pics of the rear view mirror area then said I needed a different model. Hence my loss of confidence.

As an aside, any idea how to take off the trim parts at the mirror? I can buy an adaptor to run off he rain sensor to power my current dashcam, but can't figure out how to split the trim.

They have how to vids on their site.
Go to the cam recommended for a G29 and it's on there with the images

Watched it many times, does not come apart the way they show.

Dunno then....
That was the source of my info.

I'll get in touch with them when I get my Zed and am looking to place an order.

I just installed the FitCamX on my 24 G29. Installation took about 20 minutes once I’d figured out how to remove the existing plastic covers from the rain sensor. Just took a little brute force. The camera looks OEM once installed. The app is basic but does everything that is needed. Hopefully the camera will survive the AZ heat! One minor gripe - I don’t think the shock sensor will work when the car is parked because as far as I know there is no permanent power to the rain sensor circuit and the camera itself doesn’t have a battery or capacitor that can power it. Other than that, I’m very pleased.

I've had one installed in My G29 for the last few months, easy to install, looks OEM and no problems with it

I installed one too and I confirm that the rendering is clean and discreet.
For the price, the image quality and the integration are really worth it.

Here's a small clip from mine, I've ordered an anti glare polarising lens, that should hopefully reduce the screen reflection. The E89 in front is my previous car :)

For those that have installed the fitcamx in there car, have you fitted the rear cam, if so how did you fix it in and where did you fit it..
Obviously in a G29....
Ta...

Looking at the instructions it looks easy to install, it's just plug/play to the front camera section and then running the cable to the rear. The camera is not waterproof, so the dilemma is where do you fit it so thats it's not obscured by the small back window? I fitted a reverse camera to a Peugeot RCZ a couple of years ago, took about half a day once I'd ran it behind the glove box and then behind the panels in the cabin, through the boot / into the wheels arch and into the back panel with a waterproof camera just above the number plate 😬
