cup holder broken
anyone had any problems with the cupholder?
first time I actually used it (pushed it in and out before, so I know how it works...) it seems to have gone in crooked when I pushed it back in.
I wonder if something got stuck and if I should either:
1) go back to the dealer where I bought it + hope they fix it and dont charge me (bought the car a month ago, was a demonstrator)
2) take it to a dealer where I am (car bought in windsor, I'm in Brussels!)
where they dont know me but labour here is cheaper than UK
3) tentatively try sliding an old fashioned butter knife in there (i.e. not sharp so (in theory) wont damage.
Please help!
thanks

It's a very common problem. It should be fixed under the warranty if warranty's still effective for your Z4.

Yeah... I know... . So where's my prize?
My passenger cupholder's broken too. Eventually, I'll get it fixed.

Cool, nice one Rick! What is this "V1 remote" the guy is talking about?
P.S. Not had chance to think of a prize yet... didn't expect you would find the answer so quick!

I cant get the link above to work. Anyway the cupholder is held in by one self tapping screw but you need to remove the vent that's held in by two self tapping screws one under the button cap at the top of the vent and the other screw head is revealed when the cup holder is extended. Remove both and wiggle the vent free of the fascia. Don't worry there's nothing to break! Once the vent is out you'll see the single screw that attaches the cup holder to the vent. Remove this and slide the cup holder out. Replacement is reverse process. I suspect the cup holder has popped apart and will just need clipping back together it's not rocket science!
Good luck and easy to retrofit or replace

The real question should be, "Does anyone make a REAL cupholder that won't break, yet still fits inside the hole?"
