Squeaking roof when folded

There's a forum thread with pictures and explanations on where the squeaking noise comes from and how to fix it, however all pics are too old and no longer show. Can anyone please point me to a resource or at the very least which part of the car I have to take apart to get to the offending latches as it is driving me nuts. thank you!

bump - can anyone show me on RealOEM or similar which part to remove to access the latch?

If we are thinking about the same thing, it can be upper button on rear storage, between seats.

I have also read the same thing but it wasn't really clear. My button for storage went so I had to remove that part anyway.

New button from aliexpress came with new springs which seemed stiffer. I used old springs for storage button, and new springs for that upper button.

No more squeaking after that

I find the wind diffuser screen between the headrests squeaks on mine. I've been using small pieces of self adhesive felt to eliminate roof rattles generally.

its definitely coming from behind that central hatch area and only when the roof is stowed.. don't have a windbreaker so that can't be an issue

Assuming you have a prefacelift Z4 then follow this from figure 18 to 21:

Then remove this part which wasn't fitted on facelift cars:

This will stop the squeaks and rattle.
