Gauging Interest - AP Racing Front Brake Kit CP5575-1010

Post by Ed Doe » Wed Jun 04, 2025 5:55 pm

Hi All,

I will preface this that I'm not 100% sure I can make this work cost wise alongside a number of other fairly urgent jobs on the M, but I am considering an upgrade to a(n even) more track-dedicated front brake setup to replace my existing front AP Racing 5575 Kit, so would like to gauge interest, so I can work out the financials of my onward step!

My particular kit has been on the car approx. 10 years. the calipers have had a rebuild and been painted, but this approx. 6 yrs ago, and there has subsequently been bit of paint discolouration and flaking, mostly due to heat-cycling from track.

The Brakes work precisely as they should - I have recently replaced some of the bleed nipples with new ones, and have recently bled them all fine, so all nipples are free.

This is a truly fantastic upgrade for anyone wanting some serious stopping power on the road or track. I'm literally only upgrading because the Pro-5000R kit I'm planning to buy will allow me to run bigger diameter, thicker BTCC discs and thicker pads which is obviously more optimal for trackdays/ring trips. I've done 3 ring trips and half a dozen trackdays with this setup, and have NEVER found the limit of the 5575 Kit, even on semi-slicks.

Details on the kit can be found here from the AP website:
https://apracing.com/performance-upgrad ... p5575-1010

My mechanic advised me a month ago that the current discs fitted to the bells are coming close to the end of their useful life, and as I really didn't want to ruin my ring trip last weekend, I bought a brand new set of AP Racing discs (new updated design) for £800 with the AP racing Fixings to take with me just in case I needed to swap them one evening. I didn't, so these are still brand new in box, and for the asking price I'll include these in the sale.

The Kit will also come with a set of at least half-worn Ferodo DS2500s, however full disclosure these have just done a ring trip, so they have been used hard. There is plenty of life left in them if you want to keep them in on either the old or new discs. Alternatively you may want a new set of pads to go with the new discs - you can get Mintex 1144 pads from MS Motorsport for £160, or a variety of other more track-oriented pads for more money - if I do keep these, I'll be buying RSL29s or Raybestos ST45s but that's all personal preference, I'm not buying those for the next owner!

So to summarise, I'm tentatively looking at selling my front AP 5575-1010 Kit, comprising;

6-piston Calipers refurbished approx. 8 years ago in blue with Silver AP Racing writing - paint has some chips and flakes, and is a little discoloured from heat, but they still look presentable (I will post pics up if there's any interest)
1 set of Braided brake lines
1 set of caliper adapters to fit to the Z4M Hubs
1 set of AP Racing bells with old discs (356x32mm) currently fitted (discs will likely need replacing soon but they have been fine for 11 laps of the ring and 2500 miles there & back, and for the asking price I will include the new AP discs and bolts)
1-set of at least half-worn Ferodo DS2500 brake pads - most recent use as above, but still performing faultlessly.

Please note I do not want to be posting these. I'm happy to package up but please look to arrange your own courier, or alternatively I can do collection from Ashbourne or Frimley, or can meet you anywhere in between,up the M1/M40/M42, or the pertinent section of the M25 on my way to/from the office.

Considering this kit is around £3.6k depending on your pad selection, and the fact I will be including brand new discs and bolt kit, I would be looking for £2,000 for these.

Please also note, I'd be happy to fit the new discs to the bells for the new owner if they'd like to avoid the hassle of this!

Cheers!

Ed

Sounds like a compelling opportunity for someone with an MC.
What about 1536Z4, for your supercharged machine? I cant recall if it’s on standard brake setup.

Thanks for the heads up and they would be nice but not got the funds unfortunately .It does already have Brembo 4 pots on the front which are pretty good for road use
