Little road trip

Post by Jollyjoiner » Thu Oct 31, 2024 9:39 pm

Well I've had a couple days off work with the wife and I've decided to go on a bit of a road tomorrow.

I've always fancied seeing the Buttertubs pass so that's where we are heading from here in Bolsover.

Looks like a good 6 hour round trip of driving and a couple of hours sightseeing and food stop.

Part of the route will be circular, that will be from Skipton to Hawes on the B6265 and then on our return will come backed down from Hawes to Skipton on the B6255 past Ribblehead viaduct.

Hope the sun will make a bit of an appearance at some point to make the drive feel even better.

Probably a 240mile round trip in the 35i so will be fun :D

Well we made the trip and just got back. 235 miles 8.5 hours.
Weather foggy at our highest points, mainly overcast most the day with the odd patchy bit of sun.
Found a tearoom open in Thwaite then made our return trip back on the Buttertubs pass but then headed for the Ribblehead viaduct. Shame near all the parking spaces was taken up so I have to park on the end of a row of vehicles and take the best photo I could withour getting the campervan at the side of me in the shot lol.

Parked up at the tearoom in Thwaite

No room in the nice viewing spot on Buttertubs pass so at the side of the will have to do

Roads not bad to be fare but all parking spaces to stop for photos was quite full.
The B6522 from Hawes to the viaduct was mint, open and flowing.

Car looks well Nigel. I love those wheels. Glad you had a great day. We love North Yorks. When we had a caravan we spent a lot of time up there.

We’re fine thanks Nigel. You two appear to be enjoying life too.
Had another car change a few weeks ago. We collected a new Countryman JCW in March. But it was a real disappointment. The interior wasn’t a patch on the previous Countryman we had. The dashboard and doors were covered in recycled carpet, the leather seats were plastic and absolutely everything had to be accessed through the central circular screen which was a nightmare when you were driving. It was full of gimmicks and unnecessary and annoying tech. Bottom line was I just didn’t take to it. So we now have a Mazda C60 2.5 PHEV. So far I’m really pleased with it. Beautiful leather interior, lots of physical buttons to access the various functions and enough electric to cover most of our local journeys. Reviews are not brilliant but it seems to meet our needs. So we’ll just have to see how we get on.
Take care both of you. 👍

Fortunately Angela didn’t like the JCW either so there was no resistance! 😇
You are both more than welcome any time you are in our area.👍
