Love that! And the perfect colour...heres my old VX220 Turbo...BMWZ4MC wrote: Thu Mar 13, 2025 9:33 amHere, herecoldel wrote: Thu Mar 13, 2025 9:14 am Yep, Lotus are that. As I mentioned you won't get the refinement of a Porsche in an Emira but thats not the point. As I said further up, getting out my VX220 and getting into an E85 is like climbing into a van, I don't think people realise just how hardcore and connected a Lotus is. The Emira though is less of a Lotus if you like, if you set the benchmark as the Elise, its got some compromises to make it more of a sports car than a road going track car which is what the Elise/Exige is.
I would once again encourage anyone who has the chance to snap it up and own a VX220 or Elise/Exige. They are often bought for the ownership moment, so many have 10 owners by now but thats perfectly fine. Driving one on the road is utterly epic.![]()

The A110 is probably the only 'proper' sportscar left being made. They are very light (very in modern terms) and a great car, by all accounts.True-Blue wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 9:54 pm Despite all their faults, I still catch myself on Autotrader looking at them now and then…. If I had limitless money and a massive garage I’d have one, just to go for early morning blasts of 50 -100 miles for no other reason than to drive the doors off it
Pondrew, given the total expenditure (so far) for your Fauxrrari, do you think you would have gained more pleasure from buying an Emira instead?Pondrew wrote:I would have an Emira tomorrow. It is the ONLY car I lust after these days; being sensible and realistic.![]()
He would have had more pleasure violently banging the toilet seat against his knob for an hour than his Ferrari build.BMWZ4MC wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 11:42 pmPondrew, given the total expenditure (so far) for your Fauxrrari, do you think you would have gained more pleasure from buying an Emira instead?Pondrew wrote:I would have an Emira tomorrow. No because it would just sit in the garage. Then I know (from many previous experiences) I would sell it as I get bored easily, lose a shed-load of money and be car-less again.BMWZ4MC wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 11:42 pm Pondrew, given the total expenditure (so far) for your Fauxrrari, do you think you would have gained more pleasure from buying an Emira instead?
I do that anyway. No-one else's business what we do in the privacy of our own homes.Scubaregs wrote: Sun Mar 16, 2025 10:26 am He would have had more pleasure violently banging the toilet seat against his knob for an hour than his Ferrari build.![]()
That is a thought I am working on. More to keep me focused than anything else. However, if the Fauxrrari works out as I hope, it will be stupid to sell it as I could never get another the same.BMWZ4MC wrote: Sun Mar 16, 2025 1:07 pm Perhaps once it’s completed (the Fauxrrari and the knob-banging) and you’re bored again, you can sell it (car not knob) for enough to cover the cost of owning an Emira for a few weeks…
