Couldn't quite believe my luck this morning when I discovered that BMW UK had the new Z4 display outside their office for the PistonHeads Sunday Service! I've had my M40i on order for a couple of months now but haven't yet seen one in person, so was great to finally check it out :D

Looked to be the sDrive30i M Sport in Misano Blue, but possibly not final UK-spec as it was on 19s but didn't have the full M Sport Plus package. I spent a long time fanboying over it and really liked the car. Fully lived up to all my expectations and looks fab in person. Interior is super nice too with great comfort and loads of toys. I'm now more excited than ever for mine turning up next year :driving:

Can I ask how old you are OP? Because I saw it today and really disliked it, but maybe that's because it's aimed at people much younger than I am!

I don’t think it is entirely an age thing. I’m over 70 and quite like it. I’m not so sure about the new 3 Series.

The styling looks a little busy to me and a bit lardy on the rear end. Maybe just the corner angled pictures though. The side picture of the red one on BMW's web page looks the biz so I bet it is great in the flesh. The interior looks class. What colour has the OP ordered?

I saw it at BMW today as well, and I'm not a fan either (but I'm also getting on)!

The colour was the best bit - to me it just looked a bit blobby with a high waistline and too wide.

And as 2dogs said, no roof!

Perhaps Toyota will do a bit better!

Sorry I'm not getting it, maybe it's the shot angles but it reminds me of a Merc C class cabriolet :(

I'm checking myself here now, I distinctly remember thinking the e85 was weird and messy when it was released but it gets better and better against newer models in my eyes. The new one might grow on us doubters? :|

Could it be that the majority of posters on this thread didn’t get the e89 either? :?

I see Nissan 350/370 now on the rear. This car is a total shapeshifter

I know it will be in a different price range ,but for looks it can't hold a candle to a F Type jaguar.Toyota surely can do any worse.

Oh my, BMW seems to have gone all retro, or rather old fashioned. :?

Looking back at the the E89 forum and the comments made prior to launch (late 2008 - early 2009) make interesting reading

Yes. I’ve looked back after your post. Nothing changes I guess. A typical comment was “until i can see one in person, i'll try to choke back the little bit of vomit that just came up.“ Sad really.
