I won't actually ever drive it. That would just be silly. It was made by BL, don't think it would get out of the drive without breaking down!enuff_zed said:I reckon you should get it as it's the V8.
Then we'll run a sweepstake on whether you arrive at the accident backwards or forwards.
I have a lot of money tied up in the 440. I don't use the car; it sits in the garage and comes out for cleaning. I would rather have a cheaper car that I don't use TBH.BeeEmm said:I agree with your wife on this one. I think you need a reality check, as you are displaying symptoms of someone who has a certain amount of money 'burning a hole in their pocket.' I have been there many times. Your last three cars should make you realise that you will never be content for long. Love the cars you have, the 4 series is a stunner.

Pondrew said:It's a TR8 conversion. It's a V8!! OK it's a 3.5L Rover V8, but it's a V8.
Only a handful of RHD TR8s were ever made at the factory. 99% of all TR8s are conversions.enuff_zed said:Pondrew said:It's a TR8 conversion. It's a V8!! OK it's a 3.5L Rover V8, but it's a V8.
Oh if it's only a conversion then walk away!
If it were a genuine TR8 then maybe.
Not a bad looking car, spoilt completely by those ridiculous (keep the colonial cousins happy) bumpers! :rofl:Pondrew said:Only a handful of RHD TR8s were ever made at the factory. 99% of all TR8s are conversions.enuff_zed said:Pondrew said:It's a TR8 conversion. Well I like it, so nerrrr![]()
Tricky decision Sean, I'll admit. British crap or Italian crap. :lol:Ole gits rule said:I used to like the look of the TR7 when they were launched, not so much now, would prefer a X1/9 these days
Both of my wives were (one still is) Mrs Douglas. One was a primary school teacher in the 70s and drove a red MGB. At that time we couldn’t aspire to the V8 just the standard 1800cc. Mind you my uncle had the V8 and I used to drool over it. The handling was a bit suspect on them because of the extra weight of the V8 and he wrote it off at an MG Car Club sprint at Croft Autodrome.Pondrew said:Tricky decision Sean, I'll admit. If it wasn't for the infamous Unions and labour strikes, the TR7 could have become a really good car. They had big plans for it going forward, but it never happened.
I am a child of the '70s and '80s so a piece of nostalgia as I get older fits the bill. Isn't that the reason why all 'modern classics' become popular, if they survived? The cars your dad never had, or did, and as children coveted.
When I was 8 or 9, my primary school teacher at the time (Mrs Douglas, I'll never forget her name), drove to school in a brown MGB V8. I thought she was a Goddess, just because of the car she drove. Nostalgia; what it's all about for me!
Thanks for the reply Iain (Ronald, Richard??) Douglas! :lol:IRD said:Both of my wives were (one still is) Mrs Douglas. One was a primary school teacher in the 70s and drove a red MGB. Handling and driving characteristics of these type of cars is no longer the point, though. I could buy a Dacia and it would handle (and be more reliable) than any car from the '80s. Being terrible is half of the attraction TBH.

I think I can begin to see where your wife is coming from. She must be a saint.![]()
I do keep referring to her as Simon.IRD said:She must be a saint.
