tried this on my 2005 z and i didnt work, it just made the sidelights as bright as the brake lights. and the brake lights did nothing even with sidelights turned off :(

This should make the whole ring come on dim, and then when u brake, the whole ring go brighter. Have you checked the correct wires?

Yep checked several times, ill have to have another go. Just wasn't sure if its was one of those things that didn't work after a certain model year

Since I have done this mod I have noticed alot of cars behind me keep their distance as he rear is lit very brightly, almost as if I have my fogs on.
You can see the whole road lit up behind you in the mirrors. I love the mod, but feel like putting it back to standard. It bugs me when people drive with their rear fog lights on blinding everybody when its not even foggy. I`m wandering if its worth changing the side light voltage, or fitting some sort of relay?

I did mine a little different... Instead of just bridging the circuits I installed a nitrous delay controller I had laying around and used it to control relays to bridge the connections. This gives me the option of delaying the illumination of the inner half of the lamp once the outer half comes on. I have it set at a delay of one second right now. It is adjustable from one tenth of a second up to 20 seconds or so. I used the input from the third stop lamp to activate the controller so as not to alter the circuit voltage on either lamp which might bring on the lamp out warning light. I've been using it for six months now without any issues at all.
The controller is quite small (2"x2"x.5") so it and the relays fit nicely under the trunk liner below the right lamp access panel.

I like the idea of this!
Where can I bye something similar? A small delay that can be adjusted in ms/sec.

No need of wiring, it's possible to program it with NCSExpert! Clean solution!

Please tell me, how to do it using NCS expert.
I'm afraid of wiring, but coding solution is ok for me.
Please tell me the function strings in NCS Expert to activate or deactivate.
Thank you! :P

That's the good thing though mate, you need no wiring skills! Simply get some wire, strip the ends and insert each end into the correct terminal block... Done! If your anywhere near northampton, pop by and I'll be happy to do it for you whilst you have a cuppa!

I don't know how to code it, just wire bridge it

only additional thing I did was to solder the wires and flatten them to make a small spade-like connection

Probably better to do it the way!

Guys, thanks for responce. I found NCS solution. 2 min and no wiring and my z whith full circle brakes=)

In light module:

STANDLICHT_ALS_BREMSLICHT
aktiv
BREMSLICHT_ALS_STANDLICHT
aktiv

All ok, no bugs detected

Just done this mod using the soldered link method.

I had a good look one side done vs the other 'standard' for the difference between between the sidelight brightness.

Yes it's a little brighter but really not that noticeable. The fact that when the brake is pressed the whole circle now lights up makes it very noticeable that you are braking and no one will miss the difference between side light and brake light.

V happy.

+1

Just done using this method although i spotted a glitch in what you wrote. I matched up all the coloured wires and yes they did sit in slots 1 and 4, on the RIGHT ONLY.

I had to reverse this method on the oppisite side, left, for this to work.
So on the left i had wires in slots 6 and 3.

If you are going to do this method roll down the black goo-ey tape and clip slots 3 and 6 together on the left and slots 1 and 4 together on the right.

Which one is the light module? ALSZ?

I did the mod through using a wire to bridge the connection. No complaints, sailed through MOT and much prefer the full circle look. IMHO the half circle looked like a bulb had blown :). So simple a mod there seemed no need for a coding alternative (never heard if there is one available)
