Vevor Spring Compressor – Absolute Bargain and a Lifesaver!

Just wanted to give a quick shoutout to the Vevor spring compressor I picked up for just under £100 — honestly, what a brilliant bit of kit.

It saved me from probably losing half my face and made the job so much quicker than I expected. Solid build, easy to use, and felt totally safe throughout. Even if I only end up using it once, it's already paid for itself in peace of mind (and facial integrity

).

Highly recommend if you're tackling suspension work — definitely better than risking it with dodgy clamp-style ones!

Agree - had one of these for a while now works great for the Z4 and most cars

Vevor are amazing value but they’ve had three goes at sending me a black garage storage rack and delivered a white one every time! Their customer service is impenetrable for anything but the most straightforward return/replacement, even implying there’s something wrong with my camera/eyes.

Will probably keep buying their (single colour only) stuff, tbh…

Looks like a good bit of kit.

I just did mine whilst they were attached to the car. If you undo the top nut with the car on the floor, when you jack the car up the spring tension is released and the damper just drops out. Fitting is reverse, use the cars weight to compress the spring. Nice and safe and free.

Yeah I saw that (rather large) US YouTuber do this and wondered if it was ok to do.

I did something similar on a couple of cars years ago (probably before the internet existed as we know it lol, yes im old), specialist equipment was not easily available and was expensive at the time. Seemed like a laugh to try it at the time, oh the care-free joys of youth. Worked absolutely fine and never had an issue/scare doing it.

I now have a competent tame mechanic to undertake all the necessary things I need doing.

Can't claim the idea for myself, was a pal of mine who is a much better mechanic than I'll ever be. Makes sense though doesn't it. Only hard part was making sure everything lined up correctly when jacking the arm up and guiding it all through the holes correctly. Took a few attempts but I've done it a few times now when changing front top mounts.

I can understand folks being picky about the colour of their car. But being picky about the colour of a spring compressor is a new one
