Full Respray - Norfolk or National...

Post by z4lincs » Fri Jun 20, 2025 11:23 am

My e89 is currently wrapped, covering up some rather dodgy paint so once the wrap starts to look a bit shabby I'll be looking at a full respray. Same colour as original (VO) so inside panels etc should be fine as these aren't effected by whatever happened.

(viewtopic.php?t=141611&start=15)

First quote I've had close to home is £6.8k which whilst I was expecting expensive, seems a bit mad. That is for removal of all old paint too to avoid any issues - but I would be happy to take this side of it on myself if need be.

Any thoughts on this price? And does anyone have any good bodyshops they've used before, closer to Norfolk the better but would be willing to travel for the right quality/price.

A basic respray on a built car (still lots of masking, removing bits, prepping and painting) is around £4k these days, so £6,800 doesn't sound extortionate.

I just paid £9,000 for mine but they did around 150 hours of work on it before painting. It's the labour costs that soon add up and painting a car is very labour intensive.

My only advice would be to look for a bodyshop that have been around a long time. Experience definitely helps when it comes to paint spraying IMO.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

When I say full respray I just meant the whole car rather than just a few panels, so if it's staying together with the exception of front bumpers etc could this be considered a basic one rather than literally taking the whole thing apart...

A good respray is all about the prep. Removal of all the existing paint is a huge task.
