Morning all!
Have considered a Z4 on several occasions but finally bit the bullet this weekend after selling a 987.1 S Boxster and needing to pocket some cash whilst keeping a roadster in the garage.
Drove a few cars, pre and post facelift, M54 and N52, and decided I wanted a nice pre facelift M54 as I love the engine. Found this one not too far from me being sold by a lovely retired gentleman who seemed as genuine as they come. Has only done 54k miles and is in very good condition over all. Exterior has the odd blemish here and there but cleans up really nicely. Interior is amazing for a 22 year old car. Drives really well - obviously not quite on par with the Boxster but probably 80% of the driving experience in a better looking car for 40% of the cost). Wheels need a refurb. It's Sterling Grey with the cream/beige interior, which is a colour combination I really like and the same as my E61 530d LCI (well, that is space Grey with beige, but you get the gist...).
Plans?
- Wheel refurb or swap
- Springs and spacers
- Needs new floor mats and high-level brake light
- Short shift and weighted knob
Would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations on any/all of the above!
Looking forward to being part of the community and meeting some of you hopefully!
Cheers, Ben

Reminds me of my first 3.0 manual….
Well done for finding a non molested car
If it were mine I’d refresh the suspension as if not done that will be in need, change the vanos seals and cooling elements while in that area and move the roof motor
Apart from that I’d be driving it. A lot
Good job!

Welcome to the forum Ben with your smart low mileage Z4.
Be prepared for any wheel refurb quotes to be high as the wheels need to be split for a proper job and the bolts holding them together can be very difficult to remove and often break. Shame really because 108s are really good looking wheels.
I've only ever bought BMW floor mats for mine as cheaper options are usually cheaper for a reason!
The ZHP gear knob is slightly shorter and more weighted than the standard one. I've had one in all of my Z4s and it is a great improvement, but it's best to buy from BMW as many of the offerings elsewhere may look cheaper but probably aren't weighted. Enjoy the great weather!
