Front door speaker install, E85 Z4M

Hi folks, I’ve done a search and couldn’t find anything about my query… I am pretty sure (door cards coming off today) that I have no door speakers fitted in my ‘06 Z4MR. I have found info about folk fitting them and piggy backing off the tweaters, however my question is about the grills where the speakers should be, they look like blanks rather than grills to me, not the mesh type that I am familiar with that would let sound/air through…. Am I wrong or do I need new grills?

There is a plastic blank bolted on behind the grille. Take that off and bolt the speaker in its place

Ah ok…I’ll have a better look and get an understanding this afternoon when I pull the doors cards off… cheers!!
