I have had 2 non-fault claims in 40 years of driving.
The first one was around 1994. I wasn't even in the car (girlfriend at the time was using it for work). She was rear-ended while stationary (first and last time! :o ).
Second was around 2001 and was (ironically) just outside Risborough stopped at a T junction in a huge van which was turquoise!. Some bloke just drove into the back of me. Funny bunch around there!

Both were dealt with by my insurance and neither increased my premiums at all. Which is why I said those days are long gone. :?
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

2024 Audi A4 avant 40 black edition petrol
2025 Ford Focus ST 'track pack'. Go-kart with sat nav.
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half.
No Z4 anymore!

The occasion when I was rear ended by the angry girl would have been about 2005. It was particularly painful because I was young.

Have you moved on to the 'real thing' now then?
No wonder you had to move abroad....the British don't like filth, especially in leafy Buckinghamshire. :D

Doesn't mean it is the same for everyone.

Try putting in your details to a comparison site with a claim and without. I certainly see a difference.

Careful doing that if you use your real details as insurance companies have been known to mark your car as having had a claim based on that check you do.

It was so much nicer when I started driving, I would visit the local Coop insurance rep at his home and if I was changing my car I would ring him to let him know. So simple, why is it so awful now? :(
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

It was fine until the early nineties. Then they started making it a money making racket with their risk calculations where points were suddenly an indication of impending doom and a non fault accident was suddenly a reason that you would continue to have accidents.

Then the Indian call centres came ….

Those were the days, for us it was the Pru man.

I remember him knocking on the door one day and informing that for the last six months I hadn’t been insured. Can’t remember why, had been paying, probably due to a car change.

I remember those days, but the man from the Co-op used to some to our house so I got the insurance for my moped from him. :D

I declared a non-fault claim for my 3 Series last April and Saga put £40 or so on the premium then increased the excess for a claim that the other insurer had paid. :headbang:

Still they have just paid for a windscreen repair and I'm moving insurer next week because I got a quote £80 cheaper!

Yep. The days of 'no fault claims' not affecting insurance premiums are long gone.
No fault claims have no effect on future insurance premiums, already been through this at length with them, no excess to pay, no loss of no claims or anything else..

It has been proven many times that non fault claims do result in higher premiums.

If it didn't have any bearing on your policy why do insurance companies ask you to declare non fault claims?
