BBS Alloy Wheels Splitting

Post by danielr637 » Mon Dec 02, 2024 5:38 pm

Hi guys

In preparation for refurbishment, I have split x2 of my 4 wheels but unfortunately in the process I have sheered 4 of the bolts between 2 wheels.

Therefore, I need to have 4 bolts drilled out before the remaining two wheels will split.

I've gone around to local garages who have no interest in taking on the work and the wheel refurb place wont take on the work either.

Is there anyone on here who could help in the Manchester/Stockport area who could do this job for me for a fee?

I don't feel comfortable in doing this job myself so will want someone else to do it

Much appreciated in advance

Thanks

Have the bolts actually snapped or is the spline rounded off? I am dropping off a set of dismantled 108s to a club member next week so he may have a few rims left over.

Try hammering in the next size up but one with fewer splines, as in the picture. If that does not work, drill off the head with a 9mm cobalt drill going very slowly and using oil. Once the rim is off you can heat up the stud and remove it with some mole grips

One way I found of removing snapped studs once the star was off .
Using small angle grinder produce 2 flat sides on the stud then twist out with small adjustable spanner.
