Spotify has disappeared from the built in apps!

Post by Zed Baron » Wed May 29, 2024 8:37 am

So, I jumped in the car last night (its been sitting in the garage on its charger since Saturday) go to the media button to select Spotify and its gone! Yes, I know you can get Spotify through Android etc, but this and Alexa have disappeared from my apps on the car. So after about 30 minutes of fiddling about with the car to see if I could restore it, I then remembered getting an email from BMW yesterday, titled Your ConnectedDrive service is due for renewal! it seems I have to pay £89 pa for a 'connected booster'. What makes me laugh is I've been struggling to do a remote software upgrade without much assistance from BMW, but they are quick to remotely go in and take my apps! :ninja:

Aren't BMW great.
They delete the cd player so you cant upload your cd,s to the hard drive, then charge you for wifi usage of car play etc.....

Nope, Spotify is still there, its part of what BMW call the 'connected booster package' annual contract of £89+vat through the BMW connected drive store

oh right, my apologies i didn’t realise. it’s kind of annoying because there’s been lots of debates of to what degree we “own” our new cars if the manufacturers are able to remotely enable and block our features, and to what extent they’re able to. i’m sure someone will come up with a solution such as their own activation server in the coming years

Spotify has disappeared from the built in apps!

the packages for my car all expired last month. I'm glad I had just updated the maps. but was annoying that Spotify disappeared while I was on a trip. Then I discovered it would be £89 on top of the spotify premium of 11.99 cancelled both and use the blue tooth connection to phone now. and then £89 for the maps..

I might re activate them if I feel the need. but i'm using car only weekends in the summer (my main commute is a train) so seems doubly expensive. there is a 10% incentive at the moment.

Cheers,
