Hi
Now my roof is more reliable ( i hope) with the boot switches change, I would like to upgrade to the button option that does not require holding the key pressed for 20s, and to close from outside of car.
Also like to add front and back cameras to assist with parking.
Could someone provide a list of parts and sources to enable above upgrade.
Cheers Jim.

SMARTTOP is the usual answer to this - it's a module you install in the boot to do clever things with the roof.
From memory was a bit of a pig to install, but doable DIY in about an hour.
Cost something like £300.

Yes SmartTop is the best one, with programable features.
Available from (UK)... https://smarttop.uk/product/smarttop-co ... es-and-z4/
Yes you have to remove a couple of panels in the boot, but instructions are available. Then it's just a case of unclipping the roof module plug and installing the new module loom (no cutting or soldering required and fully removable). Approx 1/2 hour to install

You will need a camera, some very long wires and depending on your satnav, or lack there of, you will need some sort of box which can plug in between the camera and the existing set up or an android screen respectively.
You can replace the oem screen with an android unit and wire the camera into that I believe. There are likely videos about it on Anubis Zeds youtube: z4mods

Kidney Grills -
Purchased a set of Gloss Black Grills of Ebay for £30.
After about an hour I managed to get the current grills off the car.
Pressed the first Gloss back unit into the opening only to find the plastic tabs that secure the grill broke.
Tried the second unit with same results ...
Cheap Chinese rubbish.
Had to put the original grills back onto the car.
Can anyone who has added Gloss Black grills successfully (No broken tabs) provide a supplier and approx costs.
cheers
Jim

You were either unlucky or a bit ham-fisted. Or you bought the wrong ones for your car.JimM wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 10:14 pm Pressed the first Gloss back unit into the opening only to find the plastic tabs that secure the grill broke.

I have changed many a kidney grille for 'cheap Chinese rubbish' without any problems TBH. The only tabs I have ever broken were from the BMW ones when removing them.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.
