Hi guys, I have just picked up my new to me M40i on Monday, its 6 month old and I appreciate the weather is cold and so on, however I’m getting a creeking noise from the hood when it is up, mainly on crappy roads , is this something others have experienced or should I get back to the dealership for a fix?
I’m looking forward to the collective thoughts.

My car is coming up to 9 months old and I haven't noticed any creaking noises from the hood at all.

Hi,if you go to my post, the deal is done there are some pics of the car,ori wrote: Wed Jan 31, 2024 4:14 pm Are you new to convertibles? You can use some gummi pledge on the seals to help with that though.
Enjoy your new car. Let’s see some photos.
The last car I had with a soft top was a 2007 A4 convertible in 2010, so a little while ago, but I don’t remember any noise from the rear of the hood whatsoever.
What’s gummy pledge?
Have you had the same problems on your G29?

Yeah, that was my plan, just wanted to know if anyone else had the same experience ,
Will try to get some of the gummi stuff
Cheers

Search for gummi pflege stift in Amazon. It also works well on the seals around the doors to prevent the windows from creaking.Hut man wrote: Wed Jan 31, 2024 10:59 pmori wrote: Wed Jan 31, 2024 10:49 pm It’s stuff that helps keep the rubber seals moist and helps prevent roof noises. Not noticed any creaks on mine but then 95% of my motoring is top down......... The seals are silicone coated so it is unlikely to be creaking from the seals. Any softop with lots of moving parts is likely to have the odd noise, especially if the roads are crap (like they are in Shropshire).

Today I had my car out of the garage for the first time since I had noticed the creaky roof, and would you believe it not a sound to be heard, the temperature today was +12.5 degrees compared to - 2 the last time out, so it looks like the fabric or rubber seals don’t like the freezing cold just like me !
Will keep everyone posted if there is a change

That sounds exactly like mine ! It makes sense though, a bit of heat expands things.Hut man wrote: Fri Feb 02, 2024 11:12 pm Today I had my car out of the garage for the first time since I had noticed the creaky roof, and would you believe it not a sound to be heard, the temperature today was +12.5 degrees compared to - 2 the last time out, so it looks like the fabric or rubber seals don’t like the freezing cold just like me !

I bought this for the rubber of the hood, doors ect.
I also have some cracking somethings, specially around the top of the front window.

Have you used that product yet, is it like silicone and just makes the seals more pliable?
I’m sure my problems relate to the drop in temperature more than anything else.
I had asked it at the dealer and they told me to use this product.
So I bought it, but I also bought the gummi pflege for al the rubber of the car.
Now in wintertime with low temperatures the car cracks less after put the Bmw product on the rubbers.
