I come from very close to there. Parents were both from Hayes. Small world! Now we are all living in the delightful 'flatlands' where the majority of residents don't speak a word of English! Progress, eh? :D
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

pvr wrote: Thu Nov 30, 2023 1:15 pm How could you prevent the battery replacement cost from that list though? Isn't that a required cost in any case as the old one was dead?
That is of course the question. Nobody checked the battery before replacing it.

Until now I didn't see a totally dead battery in an E89. Nevertheless do I of course recommend to replace the battery each decade to avoid any unusual issues on the car as nobody will get it checked until there is an issue. Weird.

Much better would have been, if that car got the updated software on the EMF already in 2012-2014, when it got recalled. Finally, this whole story is a tale of a missing service action 10 years ago.
Pardon, je suis Allemand

Nah, a smooth trip would be so boring. Would you have read this thread if it was just a trip to Spain and back?
