A question on quoting others' posts
This has been bugging me for ages and I can't see any pattern to it. So:
If I want to only quote part of someone's post, I tend to highlight the relevant part. Sometimes it will let me quote the highlighted part and sometimes it won't, so then I have to use the " button and manually delete the bits I don't want. Can anyone shed any light on why it seems to be random when it lets me and when it doesn't? I'm presuming there is a reason but can't work out what it could be!
TIA

Software is programmed that way, only for you, just to piss you off. Cost a fair bit but most of us contributed.

That Pondew is one of the infinite monkeys working on writing the complete works of Shakespeare, so most of his posts are just random gibberish

A question on quoting others' posts
I've never seen the 'insert quote' option fail to appear (although with two orders of magnitude fewer posts than you, the odds are not in my favour anyway!), but I presume you've also tried highlighting the text before clicking the " button? That seems to only copy the selected portion into the quote for me, but it sounds more like the whole 'highlighting a selected portion' bit is what's broken for you...

Yep that is the thing that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I did it when quoting your line above but sometimes it just highlights it but doesn't come up with the "insert quote in the quick reply form" so I can't do it.baljemmett wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 1:46 am but I presume you've also tried highlighting the text before clicking the " button?

Pond - to offer some moral support against all the trolls (and bots!) on here, yes it bothers me too. I just don’t complain much.
