Alpina RS - how many left in the UK

I wondered how many of the 167 UK cars were still around and, making allowances for some being laid up due to covid, looked at how many have had an MOT since 2019

After removing those that are marked as 'Exported' or 'Scrapped' it appears that there are still 146 active in the UK with an average mileage of a shade under 68k.

One at a scrapyard near Glasgow, don't know the number. Noticed they had a few bits for sale.

We have noted the Motherwell scrapped one on here somewhere, so we do have the build number. Edit : FJ54OAN (#095)

I’m surprised that there are still 146 knocking around, That means we’ve only lost 21 in 17/18 years.

I’d have guessed about 100 remaining

It's a funny old world.

If you look at the profile for things like the ford escort special additions / RS models. then one day there will be more Alpinas and ///M models, around than the more profitable models sold by the manufacturer.

I was reminded of this thread recently. Wondering if you're aware of #189? A friend found it parked up/abandoned in Edinburgh after what appears to've been an engine fire. Going off the MOT History it probably happened in 2017 or 18 and although it still shows as SORN, probably unlikely to see the road again. To quote my friend ... "Discovered it today by chance on an industrial estate ¦ Is awe mouldy n foosty inside the cabin"

Just joined this forum and see there is an Alpina section, I have #260, and saw this discussion, of the original 167 rhd versions made does anyone know how many came to the UK or did they all come here?

I believe that they made 367. 167 were RHD, UK models. The rest were LHD but I don’t know how many of the 167 actually came to the UK or went to other RHD countries.
We know there are a couple in Australia and Jersey for example

All the RHD models were intended for the UK (inc. Channel Islands/NI etc.) and would have been supplied through Sytner.

With the exception of one vehicle, all of them have entries in the DVLA database.

I'm sure people can think of various reasons this could happen but IMO the most likely are
- delivered unregistered for a private collection
- exported to another country immediately without being UK registered
- damaged in transit and scrapped before being UK registered
